Hi All,

I’m going to build my HTPC and replace ASUS O!Play HD2 which is piece of… (you know what).

Here are my planned components:

1. Intel G2020 – 62 $
2. Gigabyte GA-B75N – 95 $
3. RAM 1x4GB – 44 $
4. Case – Modecom Feel 302 (or 202) with ext. sup 96 W – 70 $
5. HDD 500 GB – 0$ - (I’m using some ECO version in O!Play)

Total 271 $

Goals:
- Watching movies 99%,
- Internet browsing 1%,
- No ODD (I don't remember when I had to use CD or DVD disks)
- No 3D at all (I’m not going to change my current plasma)
- No gaming
- OS Windows 7

Connections:

HTPC -> HDMI -> Harman/Kardon AVR 265 -> HDMI -> Panasonic TX-P50G30

My doubts:

Ad 1. Can I buy G2020 (Ivy Bridge) or should I switch to G3220 (Hasswell) because of 24p bug?
I’m not obsessed, but I like when panning scenes are not disrupted by some judder.

Ad 2. Audio will be bitstreamed via HDMI to AVR so... should I bother at all the number of channels on built in audio card? I suppose, no. (I can buy even cheaper motherboard with Realtek 5.1 not 7.1)

Ad 4.

a) Choosen case is only 60 mm high (which is very nice). Boxed version of Intel G2020 with heat sink and fan takes 46 mm (
tech spec. page 108)
From another source I know that PCB + processor takes another 7 mm, so 7 mm left for distance between the motherboard and case. Will it be enough?

b) 96 W should be enough for this setup. What do you think about it?

I didn't decide yet about remote controllers. Probably I will buy Logitech K400 for Internet browsing etc. and more or less standard remote controller for general purposes.

Any comment/suggestions really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Regards
Prot
