I am experiencing low volume output when playing live or recorded tv. I have to turn up receiver volume quite a bit when viewing tv and that makes the system sounds very loud. When I play other videos (i.e. Netflix, Hulu, etc...) or music then I have to turn the volume way down (to a normal level). I am using pass through on SPDIF output. Any suggestions?

The PVR addon only passes the raw audio streams to XBMC. It does not do any processing, so technically it is not related to the PVR addon.
I guess that you will experience the same when playing the recording directly from the Video section.
It could be that it is related to standard "stereo" v.s. DTS/5.1 Surround.
I would ask the audio experts on this forum for advice.
