I am suffering poor sound quality when watching various XBMC video add-ons. The SD and HD pictures are perfect, but the sound is imperfect. The latter imperfection sounds like the whistling and pounding of wind blowing into an open microphone. Please help.

You don't say what the addons are, but often they download/stream from various dodgy sites on the net which may or may not have a decent audio track.
