I would like to report a problem that I have with kodi helix RC3. When I try to play a video file, the screen only displays a green rectangle and the sound from the video. If I disable “Allow hardware acceleration (DXVA2)” from the System->settings->video->acceleration page, the video is displayed.
I am running:
KODI version Kodi 14.0-rc3 GIT:20141208-bfd56d0
Windows 7 Professional 64bit
Core i7 @3GHz with 16GB of Ram
ATI HD4550 graphics card.

I can't tell what's wrong from the log file but it's probably a good idea to re-read the
sticky about how to request support and provide a bit more information. Pay particular attention to the "Addition Information for Media Playback Problems" section.
As a first step, make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card from AMD.
I have the same errors with an AMD HD4250 with the latest supported Catalyst software (13.9) and all the drivers that come packaged with it. RC2 works just fine. Based on the comments in the blog post, it looks like several others have this problem too.

I got same issue on both media computers.
I reinstalled Kodi december 6th version and it works fine.
It may come from Directx installation ?!

I have the same problem on ARCTIC MC001-N with Win8 Pro x86. Switched from 13.2 to 14 RC3. But only with 1080p files. SD works fine.
So only outdated AMD cards for now? That don't have any driver support by AMD?

Hi there, Am not the OP, however I had the exact same issue. I downloaded your testbuild which solved the identical issue for me when the nightly K14 or K15 didnt work. Can this fix be merged upstream to the nightlies?

I've just created an account to verify that the offered test build fixes the aforementioned issues.
I've been a long user of XBMC (now Kodi) and I love it a lot, but after updating to Kodi 14rc3 I was unable to use Hardware Acceleration as my videos would have a green screen.
Note: I'm running on Windows 8.1.1 x64 with an AMD Radeon HD 4550 card (Laptop graphics) with the latest supported display driver and stable CCC version (13.1)

yes.
make sure you pick a nightly with "Helix" in filename (in a couple of hours)
