Using something like https://www.elgato.com/en/eyetv/eyetv-diversity or would I need to point xbmc to the software.

Look into the HDHomeRun Prime.

That wouldn't work I get my channels with a cable. No card

im trying to figure out how to get tv from my cat 5e iptv service into kodi.
