Full Version: TV Channel Shortcut

Hi guys,
I have a Media Portal Backend hooked up to Kodi as a front end. Everything works well as far as watching Live TV goes, just a small thing which bugs me still - There's no way to jump directly to channel watching from Kodi home screen.

Does anyone know of a way to add a Shortcut to Kodi, so that I can jump directly into watching a particular channel.
Favourties is half way there for me as it still requirs navigating to the Fav Button, clicking it, then selecting a channel.
What I want is to make a shortcut directly on one of the main sections (Video, etc) to begin channel watching (As one would do for a plugin to go directly into that plugin).
I use default confluence skin if that matters.
Did you look at Keyboard_controls?

Key "E" or "H" would take you directly to Live TV windows.

If you are using a remote control the "red" button would normally "ActivateWindow(TVChannels)"
I don't have a dedicated hardware remote for Kodi, just the software ones on the phones.
So whilst that's a good suggestion, it doesn't won't work for me.
My guess for why direct shortcuts maynot be supported(yet?) is that TV channels may disappear upon restart, etc, so those shortcuts will become invalid. Or even worse, a different channel with same name can be given by the backend, etc...
However, if there're any other options, I'd be glad to hear them.
Create dynamic list as widgate in Home window Smile
or just create list who support Showing your group or channels as <content>

This work for me
A-ha! That sounds like what I want.
Do you refer to doing this: http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Add_a_new_v...r_viewtype ?
And content defined as: http://kodi.wiki/view/List_Container ?

How did you point particular list item to a channel (that is tag and value)
Ok, just in case anyone else needs this:
Install CCM Helix skin, which is modded(able) Confluence skin. Google on how to install repos, etc to get this done.
Now you can add favourites(and a lot more) directly into the main views. Again google that, there're plenty of youtube videos showing what's what.
And here's a thread where Angelinas shows what's what http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=160184&page=99
