True. Refresh rate switching may suffer but it might not. Otherwise, there is no difference.

I never considered this before but the instructions provided are still clear.

I updated the guide with simplified setup instructions for the new build. DSPlayer will play most streaming content with video addons without issue now with the exception of a few addons, which will load with DVDPlayer instead.

If you previously downloaded a pre-configured playercorefactory.xml, you can now delete this file or remove the protocols rule.

The problem with LAVFilters using in streaming is it is bad when handling buffering. When stream is fast like youtube it's good. But when it is not so fast and got some buffering, LAVFilters would just strutter and drop the stream. DVDPlayer handle this behaviour much better.

Also using LAVFilters as internet streaming source, I encountered more graphic glitches a lot more than DVDPlayer inthe same stream though.

I haven't experienced any buffering issues as of yet. aracnoz would have to comment on that. But, I have seen more good than bad in my testing. Most sources play smoothly and allow for navigation forwards and back.

It would be a waste for most to not utilize madVR for video streams, particularly, the use of Image Doubling and SuperRes, which offer a dramatic improvement over DVDPlayer for SD streams.

I did leave a disclaimer in the first section about potential problems with DSPlayer and a download link for the previously-provided playercorefactory.xml, for those still wanting to use DVDPlayer for video add-ons. If DSPlayer has more serious bugs, I could revert this information. I figured more would benefit than would not.

It depends on source & type of your streaming. If it's just video streaming (youtube , dailymotion etc.) it'd be fine to use dsplayer/ lavsource if your internet is fast enough.

Not sure if buffer size can be adjusted for LAVSource to use with streaming but it seems too low and I've encountered more bad than good with live streaming. Some dozen livestream I've tried has frequent graphic glitches which was so bad and very much noticable, And compared to DVDPlayer on same livestream those glitches were much less frequent or none at all.

Also DVDPlayer has better handle the stream that need token or authorization.

I think I'll report to madshi the issue of aspect ratio not switching properly between 4:3/16:9 in http(s) stream even when using Kodi Normal view. In the meantime, if any of you have such a stream available and could check what happens with the latest madVR + DSPlayer (does 4:3 get stretched? What does madVR OSD say? etc.), I think it could be helpful.

It looks like a madVR scaling/black bar detection issue (just an uneducated guess) that started happening after one of the recent updates. I initially thought it could be DSPlayer because I must have updated both at the same time and the DSPlayer changelog mentioned something about updated zoom functionality.

You need the newest version of madVR for SuperRes sharpness to be available. For now, it can only be accessed in the madVR control panel until aracnoz adds it to the Video Settings menu. I think sharpness = 2 looks the best, and this is the default value, so you shouldn't have to change anything. The performance of SuperRes has also been improved, so it is less costly.

I have been using a test build of DSPlayer with improved support for http/https streams. super-xbr150 + AR (Image Doubling) with SuperRes (Upscaling Refinement) on top is very impressive in improving SD streams. Most look HD to my eyes. I think Image Doubling + SuperRes shows madVR at its very best. And super-xbr is not that costly - it is the same speed as Jinc. NNEDI3 is even better, but much more costly. If I recall, your GPU can handle NNEDI3, so that would be the best choice.

you must configure, is a standard configuration?

In the guide, it seems that there is no reference to this subject.

You need to use Filtersconfig / Mediaconfig to be able to use anything not defined in internal filters preset. Internal filters is a simplified preset for those does not need anything beside LAVFilters / XySubfilter. But if you want to use something else you need to go Change filters management from internal filters to Media rules & Filters configuration.

Actually it has been the way of using DSPlayer. Internal filters by aracnoz was introduced to be more friendlier with someone new with DSPlayer.

recently Nevcairiel pushed a commit "Update ffmpeg for https support" https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters...c203350f37

this made me think about what was missing to LAVFilters to do a better job of UrlReader in DSPlayer, so i simply made some test for some days with big improvements in performance on every field, so i contacted Warner306 in pvt to have a confirmation on my experience

here it's the recent change log for lavfilters


with https support i think that all credential stuff are fixed, you can see here the changes in ffmpeg http://git.1f0.de/gitweb?p=ffmpeg.git;a=...d8887;js=1

and maybe also the new options to increase queue size could be useful for buffering etc etc, it's also possible that during this years something it's made for streaming contents that it's not direclty specified in changelog, so maybe it could be better to ask directly to Nevcairiel if there are controindication to use lavfilters for streamings contents

anyway in DSPlayer there is for sure a big improvements compared with previous configuration, i'm developing also a video plugin for an italian network that has a very bad server and it was impossible to use with urlreader to not speak about the seeking, now with lavfilters everything works fast and flawless, also live channel in my video plugin are working without issue, but it's only my experience

i think that you should try with this madVR build madVR08821.zip that it's before any zoom control options was added

It's correct file.

For h265 file to works with dsplayer. You need to create rules with filename conditions and rename file to match that condition. For example AAA.h265.mkv

In summary, before it makes you lose your patience.

As states, "You must create rules with conditions file name" the reference is always through the GUI in DSPlayer (Media rules & filters configuration)

before I add the filter through (Media & filters rules configuration) Finally I enter all the rules, without the need file.xml - correct?

Rename the file so;
