Set your settings the way you want them, then completely exit Kodi DSPLAYER. if it crashes it seems not have actually saved the settings. The settings get flushed to disk on exit for sure. so set it up the way you want, then close down Kodi and reopen.

AssFilterMod

Seriously, no one else laughed when reading the name of this?
Hopefully the name is not synonymous with the quality of the filter.
...
assfiltermod is using libass and the new subtitle interface that xy subfilter is using.
https://github.com/libass/libass
if you look a little bit closer KODI is using libass too.
the name ASS comes from the subtitles that are rendered with it ass/assa (Advanced SubStation Alpha):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SubStation_Alpha and is a common subtitle format for styled subtitles.
the main features of XY subfilter and assfiltermod is rendering these ASS subtitles.
if you haven't notice it xy subfilter is currently not in development anymore so this could turn into something every important.
someone is putting his free time in this project so please some respect.

True.
But I think a lil humor does no harm, as well.
We all come seeking help and options here, so I think AssFilterMod will have the atention it deserves from all of us.

Yup, that's exactly the essence of my comments on Doom9 about it. It was, and still is, worrisome that we did not have an actively developed subs solution.

That is the exact reason why I posted the link to this new subtitle renderer here.

Alternatively, how would I make a rule to automatically play all 3D videos with DVDPlayer? I tried adding DVDPlayer merit with "SBS" filename (All 3D video files contain SBS in the name so that is easy to distinguish), but it doesn't seem to work. How do these merits even work? Do file name needs to match exactly?
Thanks.
Did you enable 3D in madVR?
madVR and LAV Filters will only allow playback of frame-packed 3D, not SBS or any other format.
Adding a filename flag to playercorefactory.xml is done as follows:
.*SBS.*
OR
<rules action="prepend">
<rule filename=".*SBS.*" player="DVDPlayer" />
</rule>
</rules>
Yes I did enable 3D in madVR. As I said, video plays just fine, but Kodi interface is not in 3D mode.
Thanks for the filename rule, it worked! I assume those rules are just regexes?
while were are on the subject of subtitles, does anyone else have glitchy playback when they set subtitles on?. The odd thing is if I start the movie everything is fine but when the first subtitle plays, boom glitchy playback which wont stop until you stop and start the movie again, doesn't stop even if you pause, disable subs and play again.
Using Thor the dark world as an example, I was trying to get the dark elves subs working. I selected the right sub from the audio menu while paused, 2 of 4 and it works but playback is glitchy.
I've tested this in MPC, no problems at all. The files is a 3D MVC frame packed MKV muxed straight from a bluray using make MKV.
Any ideas?

- Image: Lanczos3 + AR
- Image doubling: Off
- Upscaling refinement: Off
- Artifact removal - Debanding: Off
- Artifact removal - Deringing: Off
- Image enhancements: Off
- Dithering: Ordered
I finally found the problem ... It was just coming from that on the HP ProBook 450G3, the Graphics combo did not have enough power ... And on my current laptop, I just had to change 2 small settings using NVidia Inspector ... Everything is now working perfectly and flawlessly ... Thanks to all who have helped me ...

Try creating a rule to play all 3D movies with MPC-HC.
Does anyone know if this is being developed again?
