@blackbanana: Your TV has a dedicated chip which is designed for media use and has HW-decoding support for latest codecs. So yes, your TV is "better" = much more efficient in decoding your 10-bit HEVC-files. Kodi in general has never been quite efficient on SW-decoding in Windows platform. Partly related to its 32-bit nature and seems that there is also some inherent extra resource load present, might be related to whole complexity of Kodi, which is very feature rich.

I have also made some SW-decoding comparisons in the past with 32-bit Kodi and 32/64-bit MPC-BE. With the same quite bitrate heavy HEVC-file the CPU-load on 64-bit MPC-BE was about 35%, in 32-bit MPC-BE 55% and with Kodi, which has only 32-bit version (in it's basic form), the CPU-load was about 75%. As the 64-bit Windows 10 media player is also quite efficient in this area, the CPU is able to do the decoding work without dropped frames. But clearly this is not the strongest point of Kodi in Windows-platform.

Only speculating but in theory, this special version of Kodi with DSPlayer might give some extra boost also in SW-decoding with the directshow-implementation, especially with 64-bit versions of LAV-filters.

EDIT: You can toggle extra information on screen during the playing with O-key (codec info) and CTRL-SHIFT-O (player debug-info), also CPU-load should be shown. Also CTRL-J will show additional MadVR-information, if used.

As promised both releases.

x64 https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0jBz9...i1iYzREeTQ

Thank you for the new versions. I can confirm that both versions are working successfully.

However, the 64-bit version only will start on my Windows 10 machine. My Windows 7 machine uses the x86 version without issue, but freezes on start with the 64-bit version.
What is interesting is both user_dir folders are pretty much the exact same setup (same addons and settings).

Any ideas what could be going on here? Happy to post any logs/crash dumps etc.

The newest x64 bit version from the Kodi Nightly folder works without any issues on windows 7 or 10: KodiSetup-20170226-d39d5788ab-feature_win64.exe

Just a bump to the below post. Any help would be appreciated!

I have also previously disabled refresh rate switching in Kodi.

Warner, I have updated the display modes previously as well after reading a separate post by you.

Any other suggestions?

Also, regarding your question about refresh rate, I don't know if it is related, however for me to get videos to play in 60fps on the rare occasions they do play, I have to enter windowed mode and then back to full screen. I also still have the problem where about 10% of the right side of my screen is off of the display. Going to windowed mode and back fixes this as well. I have done the screen configuration and scaling options in Kodi with no success to fix this issue. I have added another log file below to show what happened. In this case, the video did play and I just had to go to windowed mode and back to get correct FPS and display scaling.

Two questions - what are you using in Lav Video - Cuda, Native or copy back? Try copy back if not already using. And, have you disabled refresh rate change in Madvr and enable in Kodi? With a 4k display, not sure why its trying to switch to 1080p...and that framerate looks odd.

Focus on madVR display modes and turn off refresh rate matching in Kodi. You want to add: 2160p23, 2160p24, 2160p50 and 2160p60.
Hi,

I'm trying to use the subtitle renderer libassfiltermod with Kodi but i can't get it to work. I've added it to medical a rules and filter config but no luck. Anybody out there got this working? It works fine in mpc.

I couldn't even get it to install on Mt machine
I am having lip sync issues. I have my Windows 10 PC connected to my AV receiver via HDMI, and I am bitstreaming. I can't seem to get the audio and video to be in sync. Where would I go tobdekay the audio? Also, would it be better to try Reclock or Sanor even though I am bitstreaming?

Thanks
I use Sanear. To adjust lipsynch you need to configure LAV Filters Audio.

To Jayedog, why do you want to use libassfiltermod instead of xysubfilter?

If your audio sync issues relate to 24p, this may be of help.

To set a global audio delay, use LAV Audio.

Can I bitstream with Sanear? Also, if I set up Sanear, will I then not need to delay the audio in Lav?

Yes and no. You'll still need to set an audio delay in LAV Audio. Are sure this isn't limited to 24p?

Honestly, I don't know. I haven't really distinguished between 60P and 24P. I notice it more when watching movies, which is in 24P. When I get home I'll check out both 24P and 60P content to see if it happens for both. If it is a 24P problem, what does that mean?

Some displays add input lag when switched to its 24p mode.

I have a strange problem. Any files I play with a DTS-HD MA audio track drops frames every second, but Dolby TrueHD and DD are fine. When I play the same file in mpc-hc (also with madVR), there are no dropped frames. I am bitstreaming and using wasapi output to my receiver. Any advice?

ReClock or Sanear?

And did you configure LAV Audio?
Lav has been configured to bitstream DTS-HD. I did not use reclock or sanear. I guess mpc-hc uses sanear by default so that may have made a difference. I also tried emby theater and it did not have a problem with DTS tracks and madvr.

edit: I also verified that my AVR was receiving a DTS-HD signal.
