I'm an old school Night skin user, particularly because I loved how it had all the different views I needed for my cover art when using emulators (both poster, 3d square AND wide). I just installed the most updated version of XBMC/Kodi and upon downloading Neon it seems the wide view type has been dropped.

Any chance of this returning in the future?

I am not sure which view you mean.
The word "wide" only appears in the 'Wide IconView" which is an internal name, not a string presented to the user.
