Can animated gifs be set as the background wallpaper in kodi?
Best way to check would just be to try it, but I think you'll find it doesn't although animated gifs are supported in the interface. There are numerous work-around; some skins have zoom, panning masks, and stacked slideshows can be tricked out.
There's evidently a PR to make animated gifs work that works, but last I heard it was a major security risk. Haven't checked in on it in probably about a year.

Definitely not. We talked about it at DevCon last year. That's the extent of my knowledge. Possibly topfs2 or... I don't remember who could say more.
Hmm. Well, there's the PR and Ace was involved in it, so I'm certain you guys know more about it than me.
Why did this never make it into Kodi?
