I upgraded a v16 installation to v17b1 2 days ago and it did NOT go smoothly.
The hardware is a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 with a native resolution of 2736x1824. v16 was fine with that. Once the upgrade was installed, it wasn't possible to see more than 25% of the Kodi interface. I had to figure out what using the up-and-down cursor keys might do in order to gracefully exit Kodi. It was only once I downgraded my resolution to 1080p that Kodi functioned, and it continued to function (ie fill the whole screen with the entire interface usable) once I reverted back to the native 2736x1824 resolution of the device.
