In terms of Kodi, its a container with various add-ons in it. Note that it is just a pointer to where the add-ons are located on the internet, not a vast zipped up directory of available add-ons.

Yeah, think of it as being similar to play store or windows app store. Except you can have different 'stores' that have different 'apps' in them.
