Am I right in thinking that an ATV 3 - NOT Jail broken, cannot be used for this software?

If not, what is to stop me installing it on my iMac and selecting ATV from the dropdown? Would it still work on the ATV?

Im a newbie on this setup (as you can no doubt tell) as i'm justr cancelling my s k y account and was going to buy a dreambox or what have you, but then I thought why do I need to buy a box when I have an imac, and ATV3 and Ipad etc. Im assuming the only reason for a box is so the above is not then required?

Bandwidth isnt an issue as I have 250mb with unlimited download limits

The Apple TV 3 is limited to just the apps that it comes with, it doesn't support ANY user installed applications since there was never a jailbreak for it...

I suppose if you have a new enough iMac you could use AirPlay mirroring and the Kodi iOS remote to watch stuff on your TV but that'd be about it as far as Kodi + ATV3 goes...
