I found a decent guide to get started with using TVHeadend:

http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=270385

however, I am stuck at adding the Network using US Broadcast channels.

While I continue to search - would anyone happen to have any suggestions?

The broad steps are (cut-and-paste from a previous post, so apologies if the laziness introduces any errors or omissions!):

1. Configuration -> DVB Inputs -> Networks

Create a network of the appropriate type here. You can have multiple networks of the same type, e.g. I have two DVB-T networks defined: one with HD muxes, one without, because one of my tuners doesn't support HD H.264.

2. Configuration -> DVB Inputs -> TV Adapters

Associate each of your tuners with the correct network. So, on mine, I have the HD DVB-T2 networks defined in Basic Settings -> Network on my HD tuners, but I have the SD network on the SD tuner and I have a DVB-S2 associated with my satellite tuners.

At this point, your tuners now know what networks to use: one network can appear on multiple tuners (many-to-one), and one tuner can have multiple networks.

3. Configuration -> DVB Inputs -> Muxes

This is where you'd manually add muxes or find the pre-defined ones you selected in step (1).

4. Configuration -> DVB Inputs -> Services

And this is where the services will appear as your tuners tune to the muxes based on the network you told them to look on.

So:

1. Define a network
2. Associate to an enabled tuner
3. Define muxes if not pre-populated
4. Scan for services
5. Map to channels
6. Define channel groups/adjust as needed

If that's no use, pop over to #hts on freenode and ask there - use something like kiwiirc if you don't normally use IRC.

I don't know if it will matter any, but what I have is a:

Firmware
In order to use the LinuxTV driver, you need to download and install the firmware for the xc5000. Some distributions already bundle the firmware in the official repositories. Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic) includes it by default, Fedora 16+ includes it in the default linux-firmware package, and Debian Testing (Squeeze) includes it in the firmware-linux-nonfree package.
Kernel 2.6.30 and earlier:
wget http://www.steventoth.net/linux/xc5000/H...1_WHQL.zip
wget http://www.steventoth.net/linux/xc5000/extract.sh
sh extract.sh
cp dvb-fe-xc5000-1.1.fw /lib/firmware
Kernel 2.6.31 and later:
wget http://www.kernellabs.com/firmware/xc500...1.6.114.fw
mv dvb-fe-xc5000-1.6.114.fw /lib/firmware/
Note: Though the usual directory location in which the firmware file is placed is /lib/firmware, this may differ in the case of some distros; consult your distro's documentation for the appropriate location.
The firmware will be added lazily (on-demand) when you first use the driver.
Kernel 2.6.31 firmware issues
When running this kernel version, loading of the firmware takes very long, and prevents MythTV from working properly. To deal with this problem you can use xc5000's no_poweroff=1 module option, to prevent the device from sleeping (after which firmware has to be reloaded)
You can set no_poweroff this way:
cat /sys/module/xc5000/parameters/no_poweroff
0 # <--- default is automatic poweroff enabled
echo -n 1 > /sys/module/xc5000/parameters/no_poweroff
cat /sys/module/xc5000/parameters/no_poweroff
1 # <--- poweroff is now disabled
This will take effect when the module is reloaded.
Drivers
The xc5000 driver needed for this WinTV-HVR-950Q is already part of the latest Linux kernel (part of v4l-dvb drivers).
Analog support was merged into the mainline v4l-dvb tree on March 18, 2009.
Note: In the past, the HVR-950Q has had known issues with MythTV that prevent it from working. These should be fixed with the latest version. They were worked by the 950q maintainer (Devin Heitmueller). For more details, take a look at the KernelLabs blog for status updates: KernelLabs Blog

Wonder if this would help any,... though it states that latest kernel
Well, you haven't actually said what your problem is.

If your tuners aren't initialised properly, there'll be something in dmesg/syslog - they may appear in tvheadend, but won't work. That could well be a driver/firmware problem.

If they're initialising but you can't configure them, that's a tvheadend issue.

Log files (pastebin, please, not pasted here as above) would be helpful.
