I was wondering if the launcher 3.2 beta3 info.plist is also retrieving the alpha2 version of camelot.

I see the beta 2 of camelot is out, but my launcher is saying only the alpha1 is available.
Hi,

1) "patchstick" the 3.0 ATV
2) ssh into it and download Launcher-3.2.beta3-debug.run
3) install Launcher chmod +x Launcher.. ; ./Launcher-3.2...
4) install XBMC with Launcher

Every thinks happen correctly Big Grin but none XBMC or Boxees start:confused2:. I have error popup when launch xbmc

Please advice

Dont know why i couldnt see the beta in the launcher, but i dowloaded the dmg and uploaded it to my apple.tv and used the update.sh installer from the alpha1. I'm running now on the alpha2.

Go to Launcher->Downloads and install Launcher 3.2. It fixes problem.
First, thanks for the folks that make XBMC and support it!

I also am having trouble getting XBMC/Boxee to run on ATV 3.01. I found instructions here and followed them. Used an old patchstick to get ssh on, logged in and grabbed Launcher 3.2. I was able to install Launcher 3.2 with no trouble, and then downloaded Boxee 0.9.14.6992. After it finishes setup, when selecting Boxee from Launcher I get "An error occurred. Press play/pause to restart your AppleTV".

I tried also installing the XBMC 9.11 alpha that shows in downloads. Same problem. If I look at Launcher in Downloads, it shows Launcher 3.1 so I haven't tried that. I've gone through this a couple of times now and keep getting the same error above when launching either XBMC or Boxee.

are you sure you have 3.2 beta 3 launcher?

you're probably running Launcher-3.2 beta2 (check in Launcher->About). ATV 3.01 needs Launcher 3.2 beta3. Should be available in Launcher->Downloads
Yep, I had downloaded 3.2 beta2 using wget command. I only see 3.1 in Downloads on the ATV, so I found the reference in the previous instructions to beta3 and grabbed it. Looks like that did the trick. Thanks!
Boseman Wrote:Requires Remote Desktop/VNC on the ATV. Turns out this is one of the items that went away past the ATV 1.0 release. So one approach is the NitoTV Smart Install with the recovery.dmg 1.0. See NitoTV Take 2/3 details at

Thanks! I already had NitoTV installed, just had to enable VNC. Are you able to control the ATV using the Remote Desktop window? I tried with the mouse and the keyboard but had no success.

While I have had it semi-working via finder on 10.5 and 10.6.2, I mainly use it for screen share for reporting screen state on XBMC issues. Mine is very slow for anything else. You most likely should go to:

http://www.hackint0sh.org/f98/ to see if anyone has actually done it well.

Since this is fairly off topic for this thread and I am not sure you will find much help in the XBMC forum.
OK, total newb here.

So how exactly do I update to 3 on the ATV and then install XBMC?

The original hack when i was on 2.4 was so simple, easiest hack i've ever done.

I'm ok with SSH'ing and telnet etc, just not sure of the steps.

I get that i let the ATV update (no biggie there), but how do I create a new patch stick with the new launcher on it?

Then once the launcher is up, is XBMC just installed via the download option like on 2.4?

Sorry for the repeated questions.
update my ATV to 3.0.1,

1) "patchstick" the 3.0 ATV
2) ssh into it and download Launcher-3.2.beta3-debug.run
3) install Launcher chmod +x Launcher.. ; ./Launcher-3.2...

immediately after restarting finder screen goes blank, rebooted and see boot movie and apple logo.. then blank screen again.. I can hear the navigation sounds when scrolling..

I've removed the xbmc plugin and powered off and on again..same problem..

suggestions?
found this.. seems ATVFiles was the culprit..

but didn't cause problems until restarting after launcher update and finder restart.

In your previous post you said that you installed Launcher-3.2.beta3-debug.run, why did you do the launcher update?

I suggest you install Launcher-3.2.beta3-debug.run again and do not update it this time. also do not install ATVfiles as thats what crashed it last time.
