For your questions, are you "from a file" or "from an attached optical drive" ?

As a user, I can answer only from a file

Quote:Can it play 3d blu-ray?

--Sorry, dunno... someone else will nee dto answer that. I have not purchased a 3-d TV

Quote:1080p mkv?

-- Absolutely.

Quote: Also it would be better in black...

It is available in a variety of colors...

As a child of the 1970s my friends and I actual spray painted our BMX bikes using avocado color spray paint.

All kidding aside, I am considering spraying one black...

The base is easily removable (it pops out - watch the first 30 seconds of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQysHr8mcJg to see how) and then you can easily remove the "guts" of the Xios. The only thing that needs to be protected is the IR window (tape / xacto knife to trim). The rest can be sprayed-over.

Prep the white case by wiping down with alchol, let it dry and do not touch the outside of the case (fingerprints / oil )

Place the cover on a pop can, and spray away!

(Void your warrenty? Sure! But that is a decision you need to make for yourself.)

------------------------------

I look forward to a Linux USB IR add-on cable... So I can velcro the unit to the back of the TV, and just have the IR Receiver exposed on the bottom of the set.

RE: Pivos Xios DS - davilla - 2013-01-18

The IR window will pop out Smile

RE: Pivos Xios DS - stacked - 2013-01-19

Amazon has the Pivos Xios DS for only $99.99. I just bought one. Can't wait to get it. Rofl

RE: Pivos Xios DS - BLKMGK - 2013-01-19

I think I'd be tempted to use vinyl and not spray it. The Amazon vendor is where I got my second one and a quick Linux flash later it's ready to roll.

What is the Maximum H.264 Complexity the AMLOGIC VPU can Decode in Realtime on these M1,M3,M6 Devices ?
anyone did tests or has streams of high complexity (i mean insanely high complexity, out of Blu-Ray spec) that work ?

Would it be able to play this in realtime ?

RE: Pivos Xios DS - davilla - 2013-01-23

Cut me a sample and I'll test it. It's always hard to tell the max, it is dependent on so may params.

Hmm - interesting clip info - which might conflict?

It's flagged as H 264 High Profile at Level 4.1 - but the content is 1920x1080 progressive at 59.94Hz?

AIUI Level 4.1 maxes out at 1920x1080 30p (or 60i which takes up the same bandwith) - so that material may have been flagged incorrectly (possibly to trick decoders that say 'I only play Level 4.1 or below' to play it?)

RE: Pivos Xios DS - BLKMGK - 2013-01-23

Pivos mentioned on Hackaday.com today, interesting read and one of the Pivos guys chimed in. Thread is primarily about hacking XBMC to get other Android boxes working.

I uploaded the test stream of which are the Media Codec Info above that is used very often for x264 decode testing it is still relative sane and yes it fools devices based on it's bitstream parser Wink and it brings a lot of the older Desktop VPUs to glow and also in my RockChip testing their VPU has to fight with it quiet heavily but it can maintain a average of around 28 fps Smile

the AMLOGIC VPU doesn't support 10 bit decoding like every other consumer VPU else i guess ?

Correct, there is no VPU decoding of 10 bit h264, nor will there ever be any. I've spoken to several vendors and they have no interest in supporting a nitch format.

grrr, sorry, I don't run chrome and cannot download the file from mega. please use something more universal like dropbox Smile

wget is never too old Smile
