If there is a good bootloader on SD and a bad one on NAND then it will only work with the bootable SD. You can fix that by flashing just the bootloader. Flash the bootloader.zip package from here https://www.dropbox.com/sh/bdj21h5h6xv4jjb/AABJxqsdzTkZ28snhWFGBNW9a?dl=0

(Copy both files to SD, reboot recovery then use TWRP to flash bootloader.zip, Use another recovery.img if you prefer).

yup it was a bad bootloader ok.i flashed o/e in android recovery and the original bootloader.it obviusly didnt like android recovery so flashed it in twrp and im up and running Smile.cheers bobones

Bobones: And when I did, read them properly that is, everything was okay. It seems that the visual interface between my eyes and what you actually wrote was malfunctioning. Must get a firmware update (or better glasses). Once more thanks for the help.

RE: Sumvision Cyclone X4 - random999 - 2015-01-24

Hey. I'm still here, still playing with the X4.... So I flashed 5.0.0 back to the X4 along with the original bootloader using twrp. I installed the original remote.conf - I don't know if this has been mentioned but I think the actual command is "remotecfg remote.conf" which differs from the instructions in post 83.

I've got a problem with 1080p though... the system defaulted to 720p on install, and at that resolution its fine. As soon as I switch to 1080p though I start getting random signal drops to my Onkyo receiver. I will run the hdmi lead straight to the tv to rule out any compatibility problems with the receiver but I really think it is a problem with openelec. With the default X4 firmware I don't get this problem. Has anyone else experienced this?

RE: Sumvision Cyclone X4 - bobones - 2015-01-24

@random999 are you talking audio or video dropouts? I noticed a commit from Memphiz which fixes an issue with 1080p/24Hz @ 48kHz audio on yamaha amps, but I don't know if it's in Kerber's OpenELEC 5 branch yet. Might be related.

I run mine through a panasonic amp and I don't have any issues.

You should ask about this on the thread @ xbmc.ru

RE: Sumvision Cyclone X4 - Bridgwater - 2015-01-24

What really is the point? 8 gigs is never enough for XBMC/Kodi if you rip one of you're blu rays that is about 6 gig so all that expense just to house one movie. I have 8 TERRABYTES and yet I am running out of room, so what is 8 gigs? NOTHING!!!! but a waste of money.

RE: Sumvision Cyclone X4 - bobones - 2015-01-24

WTF? You don't use the X4 box to store video files, that's what a NAS is for. You can also attach local storage in the form of USB hard drives if that takes your fancy.

It's complete signal drop, but only for a split second each time, and it is completely random. And it does appear to have something to do with my receiver. If I plug directly into a spare hmdi socket on the tv I don't get the problem. But when connected directly to the tv I do get some overscan in 1080p which I need to correct using video calibration, which just doesn't seem right to me. This is an old-ish samsung lcd tv. I've had a look at those links you posted but I don't know if they are related to this problem.

RE: Sumvision Cyclone X4 - bobones - 2015-01-24

No, they're not related if it's a complete dropout. I always have to calibrate video for each mode when using linux or openelec builds. Also different tvs need different calibrations. I am not sure why you would think there's something not right with this?

I've read that some HDMI handshake/signal problems with Kodi/OE can be fixed by using an HDMI coupler, strange though it may seem.

RE: Sumvision Cyclone X4 - nukesta - 2015-01-25

Hi bobones, i know you made a updater to install a diff bootloader, can you do one to change the remote.conf file in etc?

RE: Sumvision Cyclone X4 - random999 - 2015-01-25

@bobones do you know how to install a EDID override?

RE: Sumvision Cyclone X4 - bobones - 2015-01-25

@random999 sorry I don't know that
@nukesta just copy your remote.conf to \\openelec\configfiles or the /root/.config folder (same thing). This will take precedence over the one in /etc/ I already have a correct remote.conf in my dropbox and one of my earlier posts tells you how to install it.

RE: Sumvision Cyclone X4 - nukesta - 2015-01-25

yeah but it doesnt seem to using it , and reverts back to the one in the build

RE: Sumvision Cyclone X4 - bobones - 2015-01-25

Something not right then. You can log on with PuTTY and just copy the file to /etc, but there must be something else wrong if it's not working from the config files folder so try downloading and copying it again. Don't copy and paste the text, use some type of file copy operation. It's the file called remote.conf in the root of my dropbox

RE: Sumvision Cyclone X4 - nukesta - 2015-01-25

It is kind of working but double keypressing all the time, have tried with delays etc in the remote.conf but none seem to make any diff. So i thought if i could copy over the file on your dropbox and replace the one in the software instead of using one in etc , that might be something to try

RE: Sumvision Cyclone X4 - th3cleric - 2015-01-25

hi bobones and other peeps, been following this thread and others with interest and did try linux but couldt get any sound to work through normal speakers.

So i went bk to android setup, but we all know it stutters on hardware acceleration and we didnt have a work around yet, but has anyone tried to get the new Kodi 14 Stanes has compiled to work yet, i tried but gt parsing errors think because of compatibility issues, does anyone know how to by pass this to try get working to see if this fixes our stuttering problems in HD on android. http://www.stane1983.com/downloads/ download link: http://www.stane1983.com/?wpdmdl=170
