Problem solved. I did follow the guide, but somehow I missed the step where you run alsamixer and Unmute the three IEC958 modes(?).

Anyway, I did that and it's all working, thanks

Bluetooth - Phantisy - 2009-02-16

I decided to give the x64 version a go and everything is working fine except blue tooth. My wiimote keeps connecting and disconnecting every few seconds and then i press the up and down buttons it scrolls 3 lines at a time. If I tap the up and down button real fast it will scroll one line at a time. Anyone have any idea on what could cause this?

EDIT:

Its not just the up and down buttons it is all of them. It is like the wiimote is running in turbo.

Ok .... alright .....

But how the **** do I revert the ALSA upgrade (pardom my French Smile)!
The Creative (X-fi) driver won't work with this version of ALSA. I've tried everything (tried all suggested methods I could find with google) but I keep getting the following error when trying to reinstall the Creative driver...

FATAL: Error inserting ctxfi (/lib/modules/2.6.27-12-generic/kernel/drivers/ssound/ctxfi.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

I'm getting a very significant flickering when I shut down. It looks like the white on black and XBMC image that is shown during startup. It's bouncing up and down rapidly. I shot a short video, you can see it here: http://www.majorheadache.com/flicker.avi

Doesn't seem to affect functionality, but doesn't seem right either. It did this first connected straight to an LCD PC monitor, and also on my projector through a receiver.

Same here. This is caused by the shutdown splash, which is not displaying correctly. I couldn't find out the reason yet.

Hello, i followed the Guide and it seems to work fine. Only thing I change was, to use the Intel driver for my graphic card.
So XBMC start but my keyboard is not working. In the terminal it works. Any idea?

For this step, "If you wish to enable CPU scaling, install the required packages as the following, but don’t forget to enable it in the BIOS as well."

Where do I enable it in the BIOS? I'm using the ASUS P5N7A-VM motherboard.

Used the guide for Hardy, and was able to get XBMC up and running, Thanks so much for putting this together!

Some feedback...

Power Management Section

command # sudo wget http://217.20.138.65/xbmc/PolicyKit.conf -O /etc/PolicyKit/PolicyKit.conf

errors with the following in Hardy

/etc/PolicyKit/PolicyKit.conf: No such file or directory

Install Splash

Same error for No such file or directory when issuing the wget

Also...
I think you should put the path to advancedsettings.xml as new users might not know where to find it at first.

Thermal and GPU monitoring do not seem to be working in Hardy. sensors -u shows info but xbmc displays ?

The biggest problem is no sound. My main receiver (onkyo 705) is in for repairs so I'm using an older receiver that only has HDMI passthru. I changed to another receiver that isn't just HDMI pass-through, so if there is sound on the HDMI port, it would play. I have confirmed this by connecting my PS3 to that same port and I get audio.

I do have audio on the optical S/PDIF output, but only for digital sources, like movies with AC3 soundtracks. MP3s and movies with simple stereo soundtracks have no audio on either the HDMI or the optical.

SO I have two problems: No audio on analog sources and no audio on at all on HDMI. I rechecked alsamixer and it looks just like I left it.

For the following log, I tried to play a movie with a stereo ST, then I tried to play an MP3, then I finally played a movie with an AC3 ST, which played. I also have no nav sounds.

How did you set up your audio in XBMC?
I have the same mobo as you, and using S/PDIF and all sound works.
My settings are:
Digital
checked
checked
default
iec958

Also, did you set S/PDIF for audio output in your BIOS?

Are you sure you use the dependencies for Hardy? It seems that you have not installed hal package, while it is included in the guide for hardy.
Try:

apt-get install hal

Then issuing the wget command again. Theoretically it is needed to be able to turn off/ suspend/ reboot your htpc from within xbmc.
Or are these working for you?

apt-get install hal worked and I was able to get it installed. Not sure why it did not work if it is included in the guide, as all I did was a copy and paste.

Thanks I did not know that, I will look into what settings I need to use for my motherboard a GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R. Thanks again for a great guide!
