You have to find a simple way for me to reproduce this keyboard issue, as in Aeon ShowMix (which I downloaded, even though it's some insane size :p) it works perfectly.

Pressing keys on the keyboard WILL showup in the logs, so if you press them and nothing happens, it may help identify the issue. Obviously Movies should be focused (i.e. highlighted white) when you startup.

If you enable Remote Control returns Keyboard Presses, the keyboard stops functioning correctly.

hi Jonathan, I'm using aeon-hitched that's almost the same, Movies is highlighted white but nothing happens until you move the mouse on it or you click in the window.

Ones you have moved the mouse, the keyboard start to work but the very first press just make the button to blink, it doesn't scroll the menu, after the blink it moves and this is what happens next:

Take a look in the skin and see what has ID 500. Notice the SetFocus(500) line in the log.

The "latest added" script doesn't run after startup anymore, it runs after moving trought the buttons for a while...
Probably it's just a skin problem and azido can fix it much easyer than me, as he is in Aeon developing a lot more than me.

I keep reading that DX applications don't have to be on the primary display anylonger (with newer drivers), but if I run XBMC on my second monitor I get choppy playback.
This does happen with the regular XBMC as well however. Is this working as intended, or has anyone managed this properly?

Using a nVidia 275 card.

Also, is there any way of having the screen selection stick after restarting? I have two monitors and if I choose resolution #2 when in window mode it pops up correctly on the second monitor, but after restarting XBMC it's back on the first and I have to go to windows mode and then to #2 again.

it really must be something that differs in our setup, as for me keyboard trouble began with svn 23796 and ongoing. how's your kb connected? mine is using USB. although that shouldn't really play a role, as the same behaviour comes up with using the remote. i noticed in between 23739 and 23796 there was added the auto-applying of the selected resolution instead of the need of hitting "test and apply resolution" button. dunno if that has to do something with that, though.

anyway, here we go with an in-depth check once more. installed 23739 and 23796 GL from kricker's zips. added some movies to both databases to ensure we have a movie shortcut which will be on focus on startup.

identical usage on both: enabled debug.log, mouse is turned off. firing up xbmc with Aeon Showmix as selected skin. MOVIES is in focus on startup. I hit MOVIES one time, then i hit S and select shutdown. these are the logs:

23739: debug.log
(interesting side-note: log says svn is 23658??)
totals widget working perfectly, showing i have 27 added movies. when i hit MOVIES, i get to the selection screen.

23796: debug.log
(interesting side-note: log say svn is 23739??)
totals widget is NOT working, hitting MOVIES shortcut does nothing than giving the assigned sound.

short difference: on 23796 there is one error message at line 220

hope this helps tracking down what's wrong.

i tend to say this is no skin or python problem but has to do something with the keyboard issue on startup. too bad that PM3HD's buttons are aligned vertically in home window, so i cannot test if it would be there also. going to have a try on mediastream redux which also can have a horizontal menu.

If I remove the RecentlyAdded.py file from skins folder I can navigate Aeon after startup. But with it there, navigation is broken.

technical side question:

on settings cleanup, did you remove the option to decide if xbmc should keep track of view settings on a folder basis? looks like now it defaults to be turned on. so i can for example set the episodes for 24 to use list view, but the episodes of 4400 to be displayed in multiplex view, and xbmc remembers this settings.

if YES, is there an available entry for advancedsettings.xml where i can disable that "feature"?

most likely i don't use different views for media in a certain node by folder level settings, so i.e. i would like to treat all my tv show episodes to be displayed in the same view and don't even use an independent setting.

There is also another fact that I noticed:
Start xbmc and keyboard doesn't work, then switch window using ALT-TAB (eg. go in explorer) then switch again to xbmc using ALT-TAB and keyboard work.
Looks like that keyboard start working after the window is bringed to front, but not on startup.
Somebody experience the same thing?
