RE: Intel Kaby Lake Hardware - JBLSteeve - 2017-05-30

I have a TV with HDMI 2.0 and HDCP2.2
i see that there is an update of the cdmi firmware for HDMI2.0 (i see 1.65), i was thinking that it's correct the issue.

I haven't read all 45 pages but I wonder what to buy?

My Intel NUC d54250wyk (i5 on intel hd 5000 graphics) cant do 4k/60hz due to hw limitations.
Is a NUC with kaby lake the one to get or are there any other brands that you recomend?
3D is not needed.

If 3D is not needed the any of the Kaby Lake HW should be fine, But as for now HDR metadata output is not working on kodi but the file will playback.

Do you know if PowerDVD 17 passes the HDR metadata?

Sent from my HTC 10

RE: Intel Kaby Lake Hardware - JBLSteeve - 2017-06-02

It's strange that kodi doesn't send HDR metadata because on othe platform it's working. maybe it's a question of time to have a driver optimization

RE: Intel Kaby Lake Hardware - fmedrano1977 - 2017-06-02

What other platform?

RE: Intel Kaby Lake Hardware - JBLSteeve - 2017-06-02

I have tested on amlogic (odroid C2, S905X and S912)

Yes Power DVD 17 does pass the HDR metadata.
Is Atmos passthrough working, all I get is TrueHD, DTS:X works though.

RE: Intel Kaby Lake Hardware - twinpeaks - 2017-06-04

I'm experiencing something with my Kaby Lake Beebox that I'm not sure is covered by the current batch of complaints or not. I have until tomorrow to return this thing as defective so I'd appreciate some insight.

When I play a PowerDVD 17 3D movie on my HDMI 1.4 port to either my LG OLED65E6P or my Vizio Vierra plasma (~2012 model) I feel as though my eyeballs are being ripped out of their sockets during movement. I have tried every setting on both TVs from swapping eyes, point of view, depth, intensity, color enhancement for 3D etc on both TVs with absolutely no positive improvement. I can only test for ~5 minutes because it's so bad I think I might vomit if I kept testing.

I can take the exact same movie and play it on PowerDVD 17 on my Ryzen 5 desktop (NVidia 1070 graphics cards - 2 SLI) and the movie is gorgeous. The same with my ~2012 AMD APU-based HTPC.

Is anyone else experiencing this? I haven't bought Intel in 15 years and I'm seriously regretting it now.

RE: Intel Kaby Lake Hardware - 3DBuff - 2017-06-04

Are you sure you have HDMI 1.4 port? In some cases 2.0 can output this random left right frames but not 3D. Is the TV in 3D mode? Is the 3D logo coming up?

Thank you. I just placed the order for a NUC i5 kaby lake with 16gb memory Smile

Intel released new 21.20.16.4678 driver for Kaby Lake.

I installed these latest drivers on my kaby lake i3 with windows 10 creator update, still don't see HDR popping up on my tv while playing a file that has HDR info.
Also, I have no HDR "switch" in the OS display settings page.

I'm not sure if this limitation is due to Kodi, intel drivers, or both?
