I've been keeping an eye on these Realtek RTD1195 boxes. I even have one that some company sent me to do testing with. Kodi doesn't have 4k support with vanilla builds for the RTD1195, though. Not yet, at least. I don't have an audio receiver to test passthrough stuff, but some users said they had positive results so far. I don't know if it's any better than the other ARM processors with similar feature sets, but it's interesting to see Realtek have their own SoC.

Correction : rkt player HAS subtitles support but they're hidden below black bars (watching 2 35 movies on a normal 16 9 tv) I've shifted subs up and it's ok...for a projector that's not a problem. .for a tv...IMHO...i prefer subtitles in the black part of the image (we speak Spanish in Argentina and i DO need subtitles )
Also kody, xmbc from rtk and scmp plays a movies without HW acceleration and stops randomly exept VLC beta for android..but still with no hardware support
So,for now...I'm stick to Realtek player...
I'm returning to my home in 4 days and real test will start..
Again,i tested the eweat 902 with onkyo 636 and hd passtrough works great even a couple of dolby atmos demos!! (It shows atmos on 636 receiver )

-Does the eweat or m-195 play movies in bdmv format in xbmc(with internal or rtkplayer)?
-can you setup xbmc to use internal or rtkplayer always or with different file types?

When using the external Realtek player, does the video file have to be on local storage (SATA, USB, etc)? Any way to play files stores on a network drive via NFS, SMB, etc.?

man... you're have the right to laugh!!!
dolby true hd and dts ma works on xmbc but eweat version calls realtek player....so...no much options when playback starts.
also any player except vlc and realtrk player are unstable and stop playing videos (any kind) after 3 to 5 minutes. ..sometimes more...sometimes...2 times in less than a minute
also bd isos has no menus (realtek 1186 had menus,at least on back to the future trilogy, top gun..to name a few)
Tomorrow i will test frame packed 3d.

frame packed bd iso works perfect with hd audio.
So:
Eweat 902: pristine video quality and hd audio. Basic functions and zero library managment under realtek player.
nice android box for surf, skype (support uvc webcams)
Zero,i mean zero xbmc support or kodi (tried variuos versions)
Hd audio passthrough works perfect even atmos.

I have the M-195.

I have try BDMV folder format yet, but it plays BD.ISO with rtkplayer.

XBMC playback is not working for any format.

XBMC default player is the rtkplayer, but you can select the menu option a play with DVDplayer which is terrible.

RE: Realtek 1195 (RTD1195) SoC based Android media players and XBMC experience? - Skank - 2015-01-21

so if you launch from xbmc a 3d iso (mvc) it plays without any buffer and with hd audio?
Can you try for BDMV folder?

If so, it looks finally like a winner (3d iso inside xbmc, and hd audio)

XBMC playback doesn't work...

I had a old firmware that XBMC playback work, but no HD Audio.

you said that it does work with rtkplayer inside xbmc, so for me thats ok
i dont mind which player, as long as it starts in xbmc gui, and when its done, it auto returns to xbmc

RE: Realtek 1195 (RTD1195) SoC based Android media players and XBMC experience? - herhelman - 2015-01-21

I have eweat 902....lastest official firmware from eweat and also tested with some sort of new firmware from eweat indonesia.

Realtek players play BD ISO and 3D BD ISO with any HD audio format, even Dolby atmos transformers movie.( i have onkio 636 new atmos receiver)

also subtites, 2d or 3d option....

BUT NOT BDMV menus...
the main title only.

XBMC doesnt work...even when actually recalls rkt player and returns to xbmc...it´s unstable... i think eweat, zappiti and bluetimes m195 are waiting that realtek makes a usable xbmc or kodi version....

zapiiti player IS eweat hardware....it had the same remote as eweat, and now they´re offering a new "air mouse" exactly the same as the eweat!
so... I think zappiti is waiting Realtek´s guys to perform the miracle.... and that´s the delay of the zappiti 1195 based device release...

just my 2 cent advice....
