RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2013-11-08 @Iamroot: Please read the first post, there is a link to the needed packages on my kernel here: https://github.com/fritsch/linux/commits/howto (Implement HD Audio) @RedCat: xbmc Debug Log please @all: This build is xbmc-master. We are in a merge window, as I said _before_ the merge window - don't upgrade. A lot of things have been added and it is currently quite unstable concerning features, UI, plugins and so on. This thread is about VDPAU acceleration on radeon. General xbmc failures need to be watched and looked after especially during the middle of this month, when the merge window is closed and the software is stabilizing again. Also please do me the favor and read the first post - I was now asked the 10th time concerning patches, which costs me a lot of time, but is completely documented in the first post. RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - RedCat - 2013-11-08 Hello The xbmc log uploader dont work :S But here my debug log: Log1: http://pastebin.com/JrbEeTES Log2: http://pastebin.com/xQeNyBRy PS: Its not important, but I have one more bugs: First start of xbmc, I havent rrs. rrs is on, but dont scrolling. I restart xbmc (not computer) the rrs will work... RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - Orcie - 2013-11-08 Any1 else who runs into problem when trying to install the saucy x64 mini.iso from a usb stick. The installer hangs. Seems known bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1244176?comments=all RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2013-11-08 @RedCat: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade @Orcie: switch terminals (ctl alt f1), kill the installer process - it will resume and then you have keyboard again ...Not sure why those don't mention it in the bugreport, is known since 12.10 :-) RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - gWr71Tv - 2013-11-08 (2013-11-08, 14:55)Orcie Wrote: Any1 else who runs into problem when trying to install the saucy x64 mini.iso from a usb stick. The keyboard functions fine in the first menu where I select command line install. When the installer fires up then the USB keyboard is dead. I cannot change terminals pressing CTRL ALT F1 has no effect. Tried quite a few things but cannot sort it. I will have to wait for the experts On a side note a big thanks to all invloved in getting this working. My radeon system has never run XBMC so fluid and DTS-HD sounds amazing! RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - nunux59 - 2013-11-08 Ok, I updated to saucy but I still have the screen disco. So here is my report + a video to show what append. When playing videos it is less noticeable, there is only an horizontal cut around the middle of the screen, a little bit like a sync problem but its not a sync problem. Also subtitles and menu looks disco. the video : http://youtu.be/EfyQGw3N3ts On the video I first show that on the desktop everything is fine. Then glxgears shows artifacts and finally xbmc with a lot of artifacts in menus but not in videos. some (hopefully) relevant information : xbmc@htpc:~$ dmesg | pastebinit http://paste.ubuntu.com/6383059/ xbmc@htpc:~$ cat ~/.xbmc/temp/xbmc.log | pastebinit http://paste.ubuntu.com/6383060/ xbmc@htpc:~$ cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | pastebinit http://paste.ubuntu.com/6383066/ xbmc@htpc:~$ DISPLAY=:0 vdpauinfo | pastebinit If anyone have an idea to avoid that it is more than welcome ! http://paste.ubuntu.com/6383067/ xbmc@htpc:~$ dpkg -l |grep mesa | pastebinit http://paste.ubuntu.com/6383068/ xbmc@htpc:~$ glxinfo | grep -i interop GL_NV_packed_depth_stencil, GL_NV_texture_barrier, GL_NV_vdpau_interop, GL_NV_texture_env_combine4, GL_NV_texture_rectangle, GL_NV_vdpau_interop, xbmc@htpc:~$ vdpauinfo | pastebinit http://paste.ubuntu.com/6383071/ If anyone have an idea to avoid that it is more than welcome ! RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - nunux59 - 2013-11-08 Double post, sorry. RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - FernetMenta - 2013-11-08 That looks like gles rendering where the triangles of a fan are submitted one by one. gles does not define GL_QUADS which is used by OpenGL. Maybe a problem with wayland support compiled into mesa. RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - locomot1f - 2013-11-08 @nunux59 known issue. we've been talking about this since the beginning of this thread. please post all your findings here -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=63997 just curious as well, are your drivers Richland, or Trinity? starting to look like something with the APUs. I have not heard of anyone having problems with actual video cards (which seems to be the majority) or separate GPUs. @FernetMenta, is there something that we can do about this? I've posted your comment on the freedesktop bug report. do you have connections to someone there that can look at this issue? I always thought that it was because of the Richland drivers. but i'm assuming that @nunux59 is using Trinity, so that can't be the case. Could it be the APU / Open Source drivers? Your comment makes it sound like it could lead to an easy fix.... RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - nunux59 - 2013-11-08 I made some more tests and disabled ppas from this thread, first mesa -> same problem, then I tried mainline kernel -> same, then I revert to original ubuntu -> same and finally removed grub option to find that the problem is still there ! The problem do not append with vesa driver ... So I looked around at xorg bugzilla and found that the bug is reported : https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60389 I am waiting for my bugzilla account to confirm the bug. I will also make a clean install of saucy to be sure that the bug is present at the beginning, If yes will maybe try 13.04 and 12.04 to see if they are also affected, but it will be in one week at least as I'm going to be very busy next week. RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - locomot1f - 2013-11-08 Alex Deucher, seems to be the lead on this issue. he posted a patch that I had @fritsch add to the kernel a while back -- http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=174854&pid=1527820#pid1527820 it cleared up the artifacts a bit. before this patch, hardly any of the menus were legible. but there hasn't been any updates since then. RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - nunux59 - 2013-11-08 I have a A4-4000 with Radeon HD 7480D, I think its Trinity, lspci report : 00:01.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Trinity [Radeon HD 7480D] RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - locomot1f - 2013-11-08 @nununx59, don't be surprised if your report gets marked as duplicate... it's happened to me on several occasions, please post logs to the link I posted. @nunux59, i'm bgunteriv on that report you linked to just to give you reference. @beshmid and I have been dealing with this for a while now. and it might be a while more before they get this resolved. RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - nunux59 - 2013-11-08 I am not going to fill a new bug, just to confirm the existing one. |
