@da-anda - I have to say, excellent work. Clean, simple and extremely versatile. Love the broken m in the last frame!

nice work da-ana, really well put together

natethomas Wrote:Yeah, making choices is going to be pretty rough. I was expecting maybe one vaguely good design, not one dozen.

I feel like a little kid! Everytime I start working on my own stuff, I end up throwing it down and going "OOOhh!" at the look of somebody else's. lol

Zapy's fantastic.

Hi guys, this is my first try at the new XBMC mascot. I like the idea of a retro television, underlining XBMC's excellent video interface Smile

Love how versatile Zapy is

Think XBMC would be a perfect home for him Smile

zapy gets my vote. Zapy could do the genre icons. would love to see him as a cylon from battlestar galactica Smile

da-anda Wrote:Yeah, it's really terrible.

Terribly cute and well done! Smile Like it, but won't ever touch that remote again Wink. It's actually one of my favourites. Looks somehow familiar though.

From a graphical POV I think I'd simplify his feet and get rid of the separate toes - too much details in there compared to the other areas (at least for my taste).

Thank's for the feedback, that is the part I too think that needs some work and i will try to address it this weekend.

@da-anda

Really nice design, very simple, cute and you nailed on one fantastic thing, with the exactly same design you can pass on different messages and emotions of Zapy. Great for t-shirt branding and customization.

Here is my second entry (i personally like mascots more serious, not too much "comic-like"):

It shares a lot of attributes with what xbmc means to me:
"fluid", "intelligent", "themeable" etc.

And it will nicely sit on your hardware as a plush!

The next step will be the sqiud grabbing all kinds of media (a DVD case, a CD, mp3-Player etc., to show what xbmc is capable of. What do you think?

da-anda Wrote:Actually I didn't plan to compete, but all those great contributions gave me quite some inspiration so that I had to stop working and start draging some vectors. My idea was to pic up the shape of the current logo, so that there is already some basic recognition with XBMC.

Ladies and gents, let me introduce you "Zapy" [working title, open for suggestions]

Those are just some rough sketches where I tried to show how this mascot could be used. Also the shading is missing in the small versions and the shape of the body is not yet setteled in those. As you might have noticed, he has a display for his eyes, but this one can also display anything else of course, like you see in the lower two rows. And for all those that don't like cute avatars, there is this gray/silver version for you (hope you get it Wink)

I don't have some splash screens with Zapy on to show, because I don't think we need the mascot on there (KISS) - but if you guys feel like, one could of course be created once needed.

Open for comments/suggestions.

Wow. Great job. This really has huge potential and can be versatile in soo many ways. Cool

Supply Smile Can't stop playing with those shapes. It's just to easy to create some new poses and expressions...

tried a slightly different body shape (indicated legs an smaller "head"). And somebody had the idea to use "Zapy" [still working title] for genre icons and wanted to see a Zylon version of it - there you go Wink (it's just a quickie though). But now, back to work Sad
