aacPlus (AAC+) audio codec? - ChEeSyBoOfS - 2005-02-21

has anyone got the aacplus stream working from http://www.m1live.com yet, the stream starts up but no sound, i think it is trying to use the the wrong/standared codec.

try (using latest mplayer.dll and) change the "audiocodec faad" part in codecs.conf to this (as per http://sourceforge.net/tracker....=581840):
Quote:audiocodec faad
info "faad aac (mpeg4 audio) decoder"
status working
fourcc mp4a,mp4a
fourcc "aac "; used in nsv
format 0xff
+ format 0x706d
driver faad
dll libfaad2
maybe it works maybe it doesn't in any case moving this to the feature suggestions forum for now, please read this (link)

i tried mplayer cvs 2005-01-10 (pre 7 beta 1) and the tweak in the codec.conf you suggested but to no avail, guess i'll just have to wait.
thanks for input though!

i think your problem is related to the message below.. copied from http://mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/mplayer-users/2005-february/051262.html

it is raw audio, so you need to use the -rawaudio option. see also the
examples section of (cvs version) manpage.

not really "his" problem.

it's just a way xbmc coders need to update to make it to work.

mplayer does support:
itunes lc aac (mpeg2)
he aac+ v1 and v2
v1 = aac+sbr
v2 = aac+sbr+ps
mpeg2 and mpeg4

what can xbmc (2005 feb 20) play or not:
aac+sbr+ps stream = no
aac+sbr+ps .aac = no
aac+sbr+ps .mp4 = yes
so only when the aac file is in a mp4 container it seems to work.

thats means the xbmc needs to add support for .aac and streams.

any further updates on a he-aac codec for xbmp or mplayer ??

do you think faad might work ?

- Gamester17 - 2005-07-06

fyi, i've learned that not even mplayer for linux/win32 supports aacplus yet Confusedhifty: however thier developers are working on it (with the help of the very latest libfaad2 cvs)

why not give it a try? we believe it works now:

i've been waiting for he-aac (aac+) support for a while now.

and after updating xbmc again (12/18 build), and seeing that no aac streaming stations are working yet, i wondered what was going on?

have people got aac+ streams to work? such as those at m1live.com and somafm.com?

i searched the forums, and this was the most recent topic i found on the subject (and last post was 6 months ago).

is this still broken, or is there a trick to getting this to work?
i looked at the suggestions above, and the wiki, and build i have already seems to have the right dlls and stuff (it plays my m4a files without issue).

thanks,

currently xbmc uses different "players" for streamed media (over internet) and local media.

all internet streaming is handled by mplayer, and that's the culprit in this case.

local file playback is handled by pap

that's the issue at hand.

hi,

a favourite internet radio station of mine has changed their format from mp3 streaming to aacplus streaming (32kbps).

now i am no longer able to playback that internet radio station, because in xbmc i get the normal popup for caching and after that the popup closes and nothing happens.

i searched the manual for aacplus audio playback support in xbmc but found just normal aac support?

is there any chance to playback aacplus internet radio stations in xbmc?

this is the url from the internet radio station:
