Does this bit stream audio "PCIe x1 HD5450s"?

- QLink - 2011-08-19

according powercolor specs it does.

"Integrated HD audio controller
Output protected high bit rate 7.1 channel surround sound over HDMI with no additional cables required
Supports AC-3, AAC, Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio formats"

I was good to go to setup whs or so I thought.....

I forgot my internal hard drives with all my data are all EXT4! Bugger.

Luckily Hotukdeals came up trumps, £54.99 for a 2TB WD Essential! Bargain.

Currently in the progress of transferring my data to the WD...... Long Wait!

QLink Wrote:yeah, they will and these are the only drivers you should install.

i'm running the AMD Catalyst 11.6 Package and i'm doing fine with it.
there is also the 11.7 package released, so maybe you should try these.

Thanks for the tip. Win 7 drivers worked fine.

Hi QLink

I have a similar HP N36L Micro Server with a HD 6450 video card running Windows7 & XBMC 10.1.
And was just wondering if you had to do any other tweaks except for installing the latest video drivers? I seem to have some video tearing on HD content.

QLink Wrote:....it's also running perfectly smooth after solving some driver issues.

was this just a driver issue with the bluray playback or drivers of the HD 6450?

for me i had troubles with the catalyst 11.4 package...

bluray playback wasn't 100% smooth altough using reclock.
i tried pretty all different settings i was able to find about this problem without success.

2 weeks later catalyst 11.5 was released -> installed -> same settings -> 100% smooth bluray playback.

but as i said the problem happened only with bluray disc playback.
hd playback with .mkv container, m2ts and so on or even ripped bluray isos on hdd all were running fine...

This is a very cool little server. So let me get this straight it's pre built from HP.. But you can throw in more ram and diff parts such as Graphic cards? Very cool! Can you throw on win 7 or whatever OS?

Def interested in picking one up! I want one to act as server and run sickbeard and CP and sabnzbd all day plus I love that it uses very little power.

Yes, small little compact machine, meant as a small business server by HP, but works great as HTPC.

Only extra part you really need is a low profile video card with HDMI out as it does not come with audio outs.

I have 2 of them, one running Win7 & XBMC, the other running FreeNAS with 5 X 2TB HD's for 8TB of storage.

Thanks for the feedback QLink,

I think I might just be a bit fussy, seeing things that is not there :-)
After having huge tearing issues when I tried running XBMC under Ubuntu\Lucid on the box, but since I switched to Win7 things look a lot better.

Under Video settings I only have 'Allow hardware acceleration(DXVA2)' enabled.
Should I bother with the shaders & post processing options at all?

best thing you can do is turning off all these options in catalyst control center like smooth video playback and so on...

Thanks again QLink

on a side note, I'm using the K-Lite 7.7.0 Full Codec Pack, I assume that is correct and there are no issues with that.

Am going to get one of these as they are super cheap!!!

What I want is to use it as a file server / Back up.
Also to run Sickbeard and Coachpotato.
Hope to serve 2 Apple TV2 and a zotac mini itx with all my XBMC needs.
Can this be done wireless, only DVD qty movies, I kjust dont want to run wires all over the place.
Thinking of just sitting this under the stairs and leaving it.

This is the unit I need, right.
All this server stuff is new to me but using Ubuntu and like it so far.
