[Release] MLBMC - a Major League Baseball (video) add-on - jayman13 - 2013-05-09

I have a raspberry pi and the app works great on it. You have to install the mlb-hls addon which means you have to compile it or you can just ask me to post it for you. Directions are in this forum. As for the functionality, it's similiar as you would see on apple tv. No multi picture or overlays. It just plays the games either live or you can pick by inning...

No, its one of the older models. WDTV Live HD.

I mean you have to install the mlb-hls addon if you want HD. The regular addon works fine and quality of video is good.

Cool. Archived games work ok? The games stream smoothly with the hardware? At the moment I am having the worst luck with archived games, the Panasonic app just can't handle data flow.

Is the "regular" add on one of the simple download through XBMC add ons? I briefly had a play with XBMC on the PC last year.

I have ZERO programming experience, I know my way around computers roughly but can follow directions good, but never used linux before. The community looks pretty great for help so i'll give it a go. Will order my Raspberry Pi this week I think. You don't need to buy any codecs?

[Release] MLBMC - a Major League Baseball (video) add-on - jayman13 - 2013-05-09

No need to buy codecs for this stuff. From what I've heard archived games work great as I only tend to watch live or delayed games. I can't remember if it is on the xbmc addon list or not. However, it doesn't really matter because if it isn't you just download it and install it under "system" then "addons" then "install from zip file". You should just put xbmc on you laptop and try the addon. The HLS version doesn't work in windows but the other one does...

RE: [Release] MLBMC - a Major League Baseball (video) add-on - Klattsy - 2013-05-09

I'm the opposite, the games in the US are on during work hours in Australia so i'll watch archived games at night and live on the weekend.

Unfortunately my laptop is a work one and doesn't have HDMI or DVI out. Its very basic. Flash hasn't been upgraded either and I can't even access MLB.tv on it. That was my first try Smile

What does this mean sorry? Why would windows be a concern if its on Raspberry Pi? Or do you mean to try it out on the laptop...

Yeah I meant for the laptop. It's linux obviously for the pi. I love those things and own 3, 2 are running xbmc. There seems to be issues with openelc with at least the hls addon but users may be figuring that out? so use rasbmc as your software.

If you or sdsnyr94 could test and pastebin a log.

Thanks for helping!

.. tested ... no errormsg no process leftover.. i keep testing btw between file-inout and precaching ... overall precaching bringt me smoother expierence surprisingly cos file-in-out hits buffering limit now and then ... doe not happens with precaching tho... no real idea why cos my trunk is rock solid with 100mbit and streaming generally works fine overall. maybe mlb.tv hosts issue itself or something i dont see for the moment - nothing you have to lookin of cos .. just sharing.

little side question: whats the real difference between using high bitrate hls streams or not? picturewise i really dont see a difference - havent looked into the stream info itself tho.

beside that: . do you really want an errorlog on "nothing" to report for the moment?

... well ... i was wrong on the "nothing" ^^

scripterror while playing around with fileinout and different caching sizes - scripterror message shown on playback stop.

RE: [Release] MLBMC - a Major League Baseball (video) add-on - divingmule - 2013-05-09

That's an easy fix. It would make me feel better if I could see a log of stopping playback.

As you step down in bitrates at some point the resolution changes, likely then you would notice a difference. The non-hls 2.4mb stream is pretty nice, just not quite the 720 resolution.

thanks - that explain it ... not really went below 2.4. ... and the log is here allready with the scripterror thing -> http://pastebin.com/d6YXzZVM

Okay.. here is a fix for the error in the log above -> http://ubuntuone.com/736AmMoDoR5WBmSQeSTfqv

Thinking I need to setup openelec in a VM or something...

Tested ... no error on playback exit .. havent done any further testing .. will make some more intense testing this evening ... #LETSGOBUCS! ^^

AW: [Release] MLBMC - a Major League Baseball (video) add-on - dh3lix - 2013-05-11

No further errors found till yet except an exiting playback on start sometimes where i am able to reconnect to the running hls stream that runs in the backgroup by saying "yes" in the appearing choicebox.

Tested several streams ... Live and archived ones btw. So generally everything seems to be pretty stable.

Btw... Still evaluating how to add a "join live" when "load inning times" is activated? ;-)

Kind regards marcO
