Thinking of changing to Mac Mini - Luvas uk - 2011-08-03

Just wanted some people’s opinions as I am thinking of changing my Acer Revo 3610 to a Mac Mini, not sure which version of Mac Mini.

Wanted to know if I would see any really difference in performance.
The Acer Revo works well apart from i do get pixilation from time to time and choppy frames but only for a few seconds. This only happens maybe 3 or 4 times in a film.

The Mac Mini would be reading mkv files from my Un-raid server over a gigabit network.

What OS would you be running?

Not sure yet.
Is there a version i should be leaning towards?
Also guess it depends what Mac Mini i get.

Bit more info.

The 2 Mac Minis i am looking at is either the

MC270B/A - Intel Core 2 Duo, 320GB, 2GB Memory
or
The new 2.3GHz dual-core Intel Core i5, 2GB memory ,500GB hard drive,
Intel HD Graphics 3000, OS X Lion

I can get the Older Mac mini cheaper of course so am i going to see any really perfomance improvements between the 2.

All its going to be doing is Streaming 1080p MKV files from my Un-raid server and plugged in VIA HDMI to my Amp with DTS or DD. Have not used DTS-HD or DD-HD yet.

I'm sure both of them would handle 1080p fine. But you should know there's no support fort automatic refresh rate switching for XBMC (or Plex) in OSX.

Either would do the job just fine.
