Nope I don't have an account, but I found the site from the "Where to Buy" on Asrock website. So I guess they are trustworthy in Asrock's eyes.

Anyway, I guess I could live with just being able to bring the PC back from sleep, but a bigger issue that I have with my config is that any USB activity will wake up the device. In particular, any other IR remote will wake up the PC. Even if I change the changed on FIOS or other things like that ... Anybody knows how to deal with that if one goes the wake-on-usb way?

Sorry if its already mentioned on here, but i didnt read all the way through....
I found the very easiest possible way of getting my remote to turn on/off my xbmc system. I have a Eon TV Power Down plug (http://www.earthcareoptions.co.uk/eon-tv-powerdown.html) which is programmed to my xbmc power button (its a learning device). The bios in my PC is set so it will auto power on when power restored.
The remote already turns off the pc, and after a few mins the power plug then shuts off. Once i use the remote to turn it on, the power plug switches on power, the pc detects and up it starts.
No configuring, no difficulties, and consistantly works!

Sounds great to me. There were two issues I was not clear about regarding this kind of devices, whether outside the PC like here or inside like the SIMEREC. 1/ Are they learning device, i.e. you can use any remote you'd like and any favorite key? and 2/ Are they shutting power off to the PC leading to a dirty shutdown or can they be used to just turn it back on (while still using a clean software shutdown)?
If I understand you correctely, this seems to allow programming and clean shut-down. I am not sure to understand how clean shutdown works though. Do you have to assign the power on to a different key than the power off so that you can do software shut-down and power plug power-on? Or is the device set so that it will only restore power, never shut it off?

Looks like a neat device, but does not appear to be available outside the UK.

The power plug learns the off button from the remote control, but the remote cannot turn off the plug - only on. The xbmc turns itself off normally, then the plug detects a drop in voltage over a min or two which then shuts its self off. very clever bit of kit (and so simple)!

Did you get yours? Does it have the same horrible range?
I"m looking at the ASRock H67M-ITX, and wondering if it's worth the cost the get the HT version, considering CIR is all I'd need from it.
If this ASRock receiver is no good, I may just mod the case (Antec ISK 310-150) and mount the CIR receiver somewhere.
Edit: So looking at the manual, both versions have the header on the board, the HT version just comes with the Multi-Angle CIR Remote Receiver.
So I'll probably get the cheaper version, and possibly grab the $8 receiver if no one else has tested the range of it.
