Autologin via LightDM doesnt work for me. I had to create the specific conf file, didnt worked. Do you have any suggestions? (fresh oneiric server install)

Did you follow the how to step by step?

I tried this 4 times from zero and did not have this problem. Please recheck, if you could have forgotten something mentioned in the howto.

I had a crash when I tried to install the You Tube Plugin. XBMC now claims that it is install (I can configure it), but I can't start the actual plugin.

As MovieDB relies on this, I can't reinstall it. What should I do now?

Crash Log

uninstall youtube and reinstall again. If uninstall fails, try deleting ~/.xbmc/addons/plugin.video.youtube manually.

the crash is not xvba related, seems something is wrong in SDL.

Please also do /etc/security/limits.conf from Step 4 in the howto

new packages are available.

changelog:
.) fixed a rather severe bug in Xvba(heap corruption)

With many thanks to FernetMenta and all other!!

Should be on mentioned on first post ...

I added all currently known packages to the 1st page.

hmm, how do you get hdmi audio to work? XBMC doesn't like hdmi as output it seems.

I just set the correct output in XBMC => Settings => System => Audio output:

- Audio output: HDMI
- Audio output device: hdmi (ALSA)
- Passthrough output device: hdmi (ALSA)

You can check whether your HDMI audio device is correctly setup in Linux on command line:

Code:
xbmc@zbox:~$ aplay -l
**** Liste der Hardware-Geräte (PLAYBACK) ****
Karte 0: Generic [HD-Audio Generic], Gerät 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
  Sub-Geräte: 1/1
  Sub-Gerät #0: subdevice #0
Karte 1: SB [HDA ATI SB], Gerät 0: ALC892 Analog [ALC892 Analog]
  Sub-Geräte: 1/1
  Sub-Gerät #0: subdevice #0
Karte 1: SB [HDA ATI SB], Gerät 1: ALC892 Digital [ALC892 Digital]
  Sub-Geräte: 1/1
  Sub-Gerät #0: subdevice #0

Additionally I created a ~/.asoundrc file - but I don't think that this is necessary - I just wanted to get rid of an error in the .xsession_errors file when using nodm:

Code:
xbmc@zbox:~$ cat .asoundrc
pcm.!default {
type hw
card 0
}

ctl.!default {
type hw
card 0
}

wsnipex Wrote:I use those 2 ppas for build deps:

What python errors do you get?

Thanks, just for the records: the pyhon errors were all of a sudden gone, I really have no idea where they came from. With those build deps I can compile xvba. I was also able to extract a patch from tsp42's cmyth, and it compiles and can be activated. When I want to watch a recording, I get an arithmetic error (and subsequent crash) though. Need to find some time to sort this out, I'm also not sure if I got everything I need from tsp42.

great work, guys! keep on going! i installed your xbmc version on a asus e35m1-i deluxe mini-itx mainboard, everything works fine except usb 3.0, but this is a ubuntu problem!

i´ve a great smooth 1080p playback with xvba and even the switching of the 24 hz refresh rate works fine!
i watch tv with a tevii s470 card and tvheadend. this works also great, but the channel switching times are a bit too long! can i make them faster? i´m a newbie in watching tv over xbmc!

i also get the problem with the database, and installed the youtube addon. the movie database updated immediately after installing the addon, but the tv-series database not! i had to update every folder by hand!

so on, keep the development on going!

if someon has a solution for usb 3.0 in xubuntu 11.10, please post it here!
