jmcdonnell Wrote:Hi guys, a great plugin but it is not working for me today either - does anyone know how or where to change the channel XML source URL? I can't figure it out as the add-on has no settings. Cheers all, when it works it is perfect Wink

You have to edit the default.py file in plugin.video.rtmpGUI - use:

BASE = 'http://xbmc.jonakcomputers.com/list.xml'

Location of the plugin directory will depend on your system.

Great, thanks for the quick response - I will prepare an alternate default.py file then incase it goes down so it is easy to swap between the 2 - do I simply need to restart xbmc for the changed file to be picked up, or is exiting and rendering the plugin going to be enough?
This a lot for your help.
Regards
J

Just restart the plugin.

castalla Wrote:Hmmm .... not interested in sport either! Sorry.

I reallly want itv1, sky news and channel 4 hd ....

Hmmm .... I'm not interested in itv, sky news or channel 4 hd Laugh

I want the "Formula 1 2012 Championship" (cant get sky in our listed building) but that's why live streams is the better solution for this as we can section things off and then you'll only need to access the sections you want to see.

Also, if you just want tv stations why not just use TVCatchup Plugin? It has all uk free view channels (live streaming at great quality and is never/very rarely down) plus It has extra channels that are not available in my area.... Totally legal, has a guide, flawless Xbmc plugin and very well supported.... Then just switch to live streams /rtmp when you want something else...

castalla Wrote:I've encountered a strange problem with rtmpgui - if you add a channel to Favourites, then it won't play. Very strange.

Could anyone show me how to add one rtmpGUI's channel to Favourites? I am using Apple TV2 + XBMC 11.

thanks

It's uk only.

VPN?

Plus some of these streams are geolocked anyway are they not? I'm sure they are, as some non local channels don't work for me (requiring alternative methods).

tvcatchup+vpn=fail

BlueCop Wrote:I wrote a scanner for tv sector playpaths because all their streams are in HD. I won't detail all the parameters but it was easy to make a table of known station and sort by playpath. The patterns emerged quickly and I just tried to replicate the patterns. I ended up with several hundred playpaths scanned. It found many stations I haven't seen posted anywhere.

I was thinking this add-on is probably more suited to xbmchub because of the nature of it. It might be better to move the discussion there.

I have updated the playback code. some stations required subscribe and playlist options for librtmp to play. It also takes the advanced parameters into account and passes them to librtmp.

Live Streams already exists and all these streams could be easily converted to that format.

I can write something to parse the rtmpgui list and convert to livestreams format if someone wants.

I wrote this for browsing and testing the streams quickly. Live Streams is better for this type of thing.
If you plan on changing the format of the XML file then I ask that you stop using the name rtmpGUI for the name of the plugin.

I didn't name the thing. I posted the code in a request for a plugin thread.

but why do you ask that it be renamed?

This should all really be over at xbmchub. this breaks forum fules.

Really?
Works fine from Costa Rica via UK VPN?

whether it breaks them or not is debateable.. it's just a tool for playing online streams. There's a 50/50 chance for those streams being legit! Smile
I've been manually scraping tvsector myself and have bout 60 channels - looking forward to see what you gotSmile

I don't think live streams has been booted over to the hub yet either. I think they are leaving it here u til farther notice as its semi legal...

I think it is a clear violation. It isn't letting your add your own content. It gives you direct access to a list of many pirated video streams. It isn't like it is letting your add your own like LiveStreams. that is the difference.

Quote:1. All discussions dealing directly with or linking to add-ons, websites, or services that violate US copyright laws ("pirated content") will be closed when a forum moderator has been made aware of them. The original poster or add-on creator may provide a link to a website not hosted by XBMC for further discussion and inquiries.

2. Discussions for add-ons that link directly to pirated content and enables the user to access that content through the add-on will be shut down.

3. All links to pirated content will be removed.

4. "Pirated content" addons, websites, and services typically do not include the following (to be determined on a case-by-case basis if nessesary):
A. The add-on does not actually perform the act of accessing pirated content ("mistaken identitiy") [For example, Sickbeard, which performs no actual downloading or streaming.]
B. The add-on has the potential to access pirated content, but is potentially useful for downloading legal content as well. [For example, an add-on that downloads torrents is not, itself, a problem, since a torrent can cover a wide variety content, including legally distrubuted videos.]
C. The add-on links/accesses content in a similar way to a normal web browser. This is done under the assumption that if the content owner did not want the content streamed, the owner should have not made the content available to be streamed in their site. [For example, the Bluecop Repository.]
D. The add-on accesses content with permission of the content owner, the content is "copyleft" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyleft), or the add-on accesses content without the clear disapproval of the content owner. XBMC will do its best to comply with DMCA-related takedown requests.

Thread originators or add-on developers may petition Forum Moderators to re-open a thread that was closed if he or she believes one of the above exceptions applies.

5. Fair use exceptions apply for issues such as small video samples for testing and debugging, fanart and related artwork, video and audio summaries, subtitles, etc.

6. These rules apply only to the forum. They do not apply to the XBMC Addon Repository. At no point will any user be prevented from using XBMC Media Center as they so choose, nor will they be prevented from adding additional Addons not in the XBMC Addon Repository or additional addon repositories.

that is my whole point. This violates the rules.

Live Streams does not because you add your own. I was offering to write a program to convert formats for people but none seem interested.

I wrote this to help someone out. I should have just wrote something to convert to livestreams format to begin with.
