xbmcbuntu: Can linux-image-generic-pae be installed for enabling more than 3 GB ram? - vatbier - 2012-03-13

Can kernel linux-image-generic-pae (32-bit) be installed for enabling more than 3 GB of ram? Or does that give problems for xbmcbuntu?

in earlier versions it was no problem to change the linux image. I didnt tested with pae, only upgrade to newer versions and I guess that would be harder.
Perhaps you will need to re-install the graphical drivers. Not sure, but when upgrading to newer version I had to do that.

You could also use a real 64 bit kernel with 32 bit userland:

Instructions aren't for Ubuntu, but you get the gist Smile.
