Change Party Mode? (tried wiki already) - rhouck - 2012-03-24

I have tried to figure this out via forum searches and reading the Wiki but without any luck. Sad

What I am trying to do: change the playback behavior of the default party mode.

What I did: based on the Wiki instructions (i.e., http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=PartyMode.xsp), I went to my Userdata folder under playlists/music. I found a smart playlist I had created but no partymode.xsp. So I changed the name of my smart playlist (both the filename and inside the file) to party mode.

However, when I hit the "Party" button in XBMC Commander or Constellation, it still just plays ALL of my music randomly.

What am I doing wrong? Huh Is there an existing partymode.xsp I need to edit that I did not see?

Thanks for any help.

The debug log might give you a hint.

The best way is to set it up from the GUI.

I embarrassingly did not even realize this was possible. Did this exist pre-11.0? This took two seconds and now works perfectly, doh!

Thanks!

I had a problem with creating a playlist for Party Mode using a text editor.
I finally gave up and used the GUI, and compared the playlist generated to the one I tried to create.
There was one vital difference. The generated playlist began with the line:

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>

Nowhere on the wiki is it mentioned that smart playlists need this as the first line.
Could the wiki be updated?

You don't need that line. It's simply a hint that what follows is in UTF-8. It won't make a difference unless you're using non-ASCII chars in the playlist.
