RE: Allwinner A10 : Is XBMC ported to MALI-400MP ? - thefrog - 2012-07-06

I ordered my Mele A1000 box today, it can keep my Pi company in front of the TV. I hope it is a better decision than the CuBox which I was also considering. My thought process is that I already have a bunch of other hardware (Roku, WD TV Live Plus) that is of almost no utility due to being fairly closed off (although kudos to WD for what they _did_ allow).

If this fails, I'll probably go the route of a Mini-ITX case and MoBo. I still have a few projects to try with the Pi, and maybe I can do something fun with the Mele if it doesn't XBMC for my MPEG2 Live TV, DVD ISOs and BD ISOs.

Offtopic a bit.. while I wait for xbmc to be ported to it. I was wondering if I could use the mele 2000 as a server? I would run ubuntu on it and then flexraid on top of it. I would want to run sabnzbd, cp, sickbeard, and headphones on it also. Another thing is if I could put a usb hub on it and attach a couple of hard drives on it.

Your thoughts on it?

RE: Allwinner A10 : Is XBMC ported to MALI-400MP ? - TheGuv - 2012-07-06

I currently use a Zotac Ion mini-itx mainboard for my TV box. It's been fantastic and liked by myself and the wifey; XBMC totally rocks and it's so quick to boot with OpenElec.

Now I also have a Mele A2000 waiting patiently by the TV. I'm in no hurry and am sure it will be supported when it is, and then my Ion will be retired and replaced with something even smaller and neater that consumes 1/10th of the power.

Kudos to all the devs; keep up the good work. I wish I was a coder but I'm not, but I'll be there when the first version for the Mele is released and will happily report back any issues I find in a hopefully helpful way Wink

care to correct said misinformation?

RE: Allwinner A10 : Is XBMC ported to MALI-400MP ? - Speedst3r - 2012-07-07

I asked on J1nx's blog but maybe some of the guys who already have their A10 devices on here could comment...

Everything I can find seems to indicate hardware decoding of surround sound is non-functional under the android OS. Is this applicable for passthrough? (I have a DD/DTS(-MA)/TrueHD capable receiver)
I see there is a "fix" that enables output to PCM stereo. I was wondering if this is an issue specific to Android or whether AllWinner has not licensed the codecs?

Hopefully it's Android and XBMC can passthrough compatible surround streams!

I expect nothing but a Linux box at the moment. Nobody should expect anything other than that at this point.

davilla: there is a broken link in your .sig

Quick question we need x server running in mali in order to get OpenGL ES to work?

Yes and no

Yes if you want hardware acc. Under x11
No if you want hardware acc. Under framebuffer

RE: Allwinner A10 : Is XBMC ported to MALI-400MP ? - atv2jber - 2012-07-07

Let's hope that XIOS XS with XBMC sees the light of day and is more the just a "Cable Show 2012" demo. Once that is on the market nothing else will matter. No more ATV2 JB'ing for XBMC.

Pivos just has to get the price right. Let's cross our fingers it's similiar to the XIOS DS.

Regards.

I think im missing this part
Code:
To integrate UMP with your display driver, you must add support for the GET_UMP_SECURE_ID ioctl
to your display driver. This ioctl must return a UMP secure ID for your framebuffer memory.
The integration typically consists of the following major parts:
1. mapping and unmapping of the physical blocks of memory
2. returning UMP Secure ID from within the ioctl handler.

What is that? kernel bug? is compiled with CONFIG_DRM=y...

EDIT: Is not true, ump changes are not present in current branch i need to apply the patch and recompile...

Hey Shivansps, how you getting on with your attempts getting the drivers working properly ?
