New HTPC!! - maddog808 - 2012-04-06 Looks like I know what I'm doing after the kids go to sleep. RE: New HTPC!! - Beer40oz - 2012-04-06 Wow! all from eskros list..... awesome man... hope to see some good pics making it..... jealous where is the SSD? Did not get the 1866 ram? I'm making a new htpc with the same cpu you have.... Im debating if I need the 1866 ram ..... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104263 RE: New HTPC!! - maddog808 - 2012-04-06 SSD is still in the Revo 3610. I'll be puling it out in a few minutes. More pics to come. I wasn't too sure on the RAM. Seems like 1600 will be fast enough. I thought I read somewhere that you need to overclock to use 1866 RAM with this motherboard? Maybe I'm wrong?? RE: New HTPC!! - Beer40oz - 2012-04-06 Newegg: DDR3 2400+(OC) / 1866(OC) / 1600(OC) / 1333 / 1066 / 800 So if you want to take advantage for 1600 you have to overclock..... Remember to get your timings and voltage correctly on the mobo if it dont pick them up. You can check the timings and voltage with this: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html I am trying to find out if there will be any benefits with the 1866 if not I thing I will just get 1333..... does anyone know? Wait I just checked the specs from there website...... Supports DDR3 2400+(OC)/1866/1600/1333/1066/800 non-ECC, un-buffered memory huh? who is right? Can you take a look at the book and let us know..... http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=A75M-ITX&cat=Specifications RE: New HTPC!! - eskro - 2012-04-06 There's nothing crazy to do in order to have the A75M-ITX mobo run your 1866Mhz ram sticks at 1866Mhz.... as described in this A75M-ITX review --> Here Higher clocked RAM benefit your APU since its onboard GPU uses it as frame buffer!! the A75M-ITX can run 1866MHz Ram Sticks right off the bat... simply manually input the required Case Latencies... and also, if you check on ASROCK's main website --> Here for A75M-ITX mobo specifications, in the Memory section, you'll see Supports DDR3 2400+(OC)/1866/1600/1333/1066/800 ... meaning, 1866MHz Ram Sticks are supported right off the bat... no O/C needed.... Newegg got the ram spec wrong... you only need to O/C if you want your RAM to run at 2400Mhz... RE: New HTPC!! - maddog808 - 2012-04-06 And to take it a step further: Asrock A75M-ITX Memory Support List But I wouldn't necessarily say that Newegg or Amazon got it wrong. The Asrock manual I'm reading right now actually says, "Support DDR3 2400+(OC)/1866(OC)/1600(OC)/1333/1066/800 non-ECC, un-buffered memory (see CAUTION 2)" CAUTION 2 then refers you to the web page I linked to above^. I'm sure you'll be fine with 1866, if you want to spend the extra $12. I'm a cheap bastard, so... RE: New HTPC!! - eskro - 2012-04-06 as the review said, 1866MHz Ram Sticks are supported right off the bat... no O/C needed.. RE: New HTPC!! - maddog808 - 2012-04-06 Now how do I take this SSD out of the Revo, and put the stock Hitachi HDD back in? Man, good thing this dude posted step by step instructions a while back!! Hey Eskro, that picture is just for you, cuz I know how much you LOVE OCZ!!! RE: New HTPC!! - eskro - 2012-04-06 Nooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
