i eMail'ed the seller of that 90W Power Brick you bought,
i ask'ed him if his 90W Power Brick's FanLess?

because sometimes,
some Power Brick's have a tiny cooling fan inside
that kicks in at high loads..

anyhow, here's his answer

Hopefully it goes on sale somewhere up in the great white North. My parents aren't flocking to Florida for several months so not sure I'll wait!

Btw, if one wanted to go completely fanless with this build, would the 120w picopsu linked below work?

Also, I don't hear anyone speak of Using thermal compound/paste with their builds. Is this not needed with htpc's, or wouldn't help dissipate heat? Have never built a pc before so have no clue, but recall in the laptop forums this was a common tweak when upgrading cpu's.

Thermal paste is a must have, the only question is what brand to use. Most CPUs come from the OEM with thermal paste pre-installed on the factory heatsink. If you use an aftermarket cooler then they typically include some thermal paste in the package as well.

Thermal compound is need it, and the included thermal compound is fine.....there is no need to go crazy with aftermarket compound.....

ah...didn't realize it was already applied.

It's not already applied when you buy a CPU or cooler, you will just be supplied with some thermal compound in a little tube or something.

You can most likely find a video on YouTube that will show you how to actually apply the thermal compound. Should help when it comes to putting your computer together. Smile

Hope this helps!
