I set it to balanced and now I get 28C for watching a video the whole entire time... now I don't know how much the CPUTIN changed after the new settings....

Nice one on the LED light.... yup it does get hard to see if the system is on and when you don't hear it even harder...... Smile I might just do that.... or wire the system so both lights are on....

I think something is wrong with your system.... how can the CPU core 1 be at 80% even while watching a video. You have some heat issues... from many builds of this PACK no one has had issues with the screen getting messed up... something is wrong with your hardware don't you think?

Are you undervolting or using cool and quiet and if so do 2 cores go to 800mhz? I cut a nice 120mm vent in the case right above the 120mm fan and the temps are perfect now (I'll take a pic later). Your vertical orientation probably helps with convection too. The screen issue only happened once in many hours of usage and I doubt the issue will rear its head again. What is your cpu usage per core when watching a 1080p and then idling in the menu?

Btw I'm running the mq3 screen using vertical blank sync enabled always.

Ok, quoting myself here. Below you can see the 120mm vent which brought down temps 10 degrees before the following changes. After that change I added advancedsettings.xml and turned dirty regions on with:

<advancedsettings>
<gui>
<algorithmdirtyregions>1</algorithmdirtyregions>
<nofliptimeout>1000</nofliptimeout>
</gui>
</advancedsettings>

I also changed the MQ3 skin from "super mode" to "pro". After all that, when idling OR playing 1080p movies the CPU usage is under 3% Yes, under 3% even with 1080p movies. For a few stretches during playback, all 3 cores were at 0.0% and temperatures under that load are 35 degrees which is a delta of 10 degrees from room temperature. I think I'm going to enable cool and quiet and see if I can get it even lower... I really don't need that 80mm side fan now Smile

Hi, new guy here.

I have been looking at this a6 build and decided to order some of the parts. However It seems I ordered and fm2 socket motherboard instead of the FM1 ( i have already trashed an fm1 processor before I stupidly realised this.

So I have the FM2A75M-itx mothboard

http://www.amazon.co.uk/AsRock-FM2A75M-ITX-Motherboard-PCI-Express-Socket/dp/B009WNF5RY/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pdT1_S_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=1SJLKJEA4YPO6&coliid=I2G28URVTNRIH6

and have just placed a new order for the following cpu

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0095VPBFY/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00

I am assuming these two will now correctly work together. Smile

My question is I was looking at the Scythe BIG Shuriken Rev. 2B cooler however according to their website it will only support fm1 sockets, so my question (finally) is can you recommend
a low profile cooler that will fit in the antek isk-300 case that will also fit the fm2 socket board.

Currently I am using the built in 150 watt psu that came with the case but I will at some point replace this with a pico as I want it to be as quiet as possible.

Thank you for your time.

That's the right APU for that motherboard Smile

AM2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+, FM1, FM2 can all use the same heatsinks.

Does anyone know if the FM2 Chips ( Particularly the A6-5400k) should drop down to 800mhz with cool n quiet?

At Idle, mine only drops to 1400mhz and haven't seen it drop below that.

Make sure everyone using this board updates to the new BIOS V1.80.

The update seems to enable better compatibility with Trinity chips, particularly proper voltage stepping. After performing the update, my idle temperatures have dropped 8C, which leads me to believe that the cpu is idling at a much lower voltage than before.

Never mind.....

That was the recommendation ASRock support gave me so I am going to do the same. I am putting together a A6-4500K/FM2A75M-ITX system tonight and I am hoping for better temps!

This board is a clear example of manufacturers putting out products before they are truly ready in order to be first to the market.

5 BIOS versions in less than 2 months. Clearly this thing didn't see proper QA testing.

QA? That's what customers are for, right? Smile I am sure doing a lot of QA...

Speaking of A6-5400k's, are they capable of 3D Blu-Ray playback?
Thanks

So the new FM2 A6-5400k can not do 3D? oh man... who has tested? what chip now can do 3D? I know for sure the FM1 A6-3500 can do 3D from what people tested....

I can't believe this...

I don't watch 3D but this blows for people who do and bought this new FM2 chip...

What about 3d sbs files, can the A6 play these?

I thought the A6 couldn't play 3d mvc stereoscopic from blu ray discs but could play ripped SBS?

It is clearly stated in AMD website. You need at least A8-5500 in 2nd Gen APU line up for 3d- AMD A-Series Processor-in-a-Box ....

A6-5400K is complete different CPU/iGPU than A6-3500....AMD should have named it without A6 in it....

Edited: good news reported by Tutu on 3d capability in this thread- Streacom F7C A6 build....
