I did put the contents of the zip, not the zip itself, in the abovementioned folder. As a result, I do see the repo. But, as I said before, the repo contains no addons, regardless of hitting refresh an arbitrary number of times. What am I missing here? Some banality I wonder?

The repo showed up on my first try, so this was not an "installation" issue. As it turns out, there's a rather hidden context menu which can only be invoked from outside the repo and has different options than the regular context menu. This one has an option that says "Force refresh" and this is the one that does the trick.

Would like to add my experiences with this add-on, as I am a very happy user, but still miss some things and have some issues. I was wondering whether the re-write yoshiofthewire mentioned might benefit from this feedback.
First off, this add-on is the best way to enjoy your crunchyroll streams, especially on tablet/phone/OUYA. The default crunchyroll apps are lacking in functionality: videos are automatically stretched (without preservering Aspect Ratio) but most annoyingly there seems to be a lack of buffering support, causing streams to have heavy delays sometimes. Letting XBMC handle the streaming eliminates these issues.
But, even Crunchyroll Takeout is not without some (more minor) issues (on OUYA with a sideloaded xbmc). If I do not use alternative streaming, I get High Quality streams. However, as soon as I want to skip ahead or back, audio is skipped correctly but my video hangs on the last frame shown before skipping, and this problem persists until closing the video. If I do use alternative streaming, I of course have SD quality and every few minutes I get artifacts (where and old frame and new frame weirdly seem to blend). I have to pick two lesser options. I tried fiddeling with both crunchyroll takeout and playback settings, but can't seem to surpass this problem.
I will try my other XBMC build which should be more compatible with OUYA, so maybe OUYA is at fault here. I will definitely check out these problems on my Windows Laptop and Android Laptop and report back here with my findings.

After a 90% rewrite the Crunchyroll;xbmc is released to the world.
It has NOT been pushed to the repo yet.
It needs MORE TESTING, and you can help.
Things not yet decided:
1) For install reasons make this replace Crunchyroll Takeout or make it a new Plugin
2) If it should force a paid membership.
The plugin will NOT work if you don't have a free account.

Ok, so I started using the old, 0.7.7 something release since I was really dissapointed that CR does not have 720p on their Android app and using the PS3 app to watch all the new shows would skyrocket my electric bill, and XBMC for andoid is pretty much the same as the app: no 720p, so I installed j1nx linux beta2 on my dust collecting G-Box Midnight (I bought it before getting my LG Smart TV, but after I got it I stopped using it) and then installed the plugin; here's what happened:
-Wifi streaming kept buffering over and over every 2 seconds, but this seems to be more of an issue with the wifi device in the box, since my windows XBMC worked flawlessly on wifi
-Wired streaming works great, I'm even thinking/reconsidering to keep paying after the 14 day trial; just a couple of issues arised (don't know if they were already reported or not, didn't read the previous pages):
-like @1312rene said: frame stops if you try to fast forward or rewind the video, funny thing is that if I skipped the stream by a minute using the right and left arrow buttons on my remote it kept playing without a sinch.
-if you pause the stream ant then resume the stream will not continue and exit after a few seconds. (this also happened on windows)
-after watching a couple of "Manga Artist" episodes I watched the latest "Baby Steps" episode and halfway the episode the subtitles started to look like squares and was't able to read anything; restarting the device fixed this one.
PS: j1nx linux for G-Box Midnight uses XBMC 12.0 Frodo

First off let me say thank you for this addon, it is the only thing keeping me from upgrading to gotham.
I just installed your addon on my test VM and I am getting a script error when I try and access my queue.

orcus, I managed to reproduce the error here.
For now, before an actual fix, as a quick workaround you can go to the Addon Settings and change Queue Type from "Episodes" to "Series" that the error will not happen.

Wow, Thx man That worked. I will be trying this out more on my openelec system when I get the time to watch some anime. so far looks great.
