Support for shorts was implemented by Olympia 2 years ago on version 2.1.7, so you should get it to work just by enabling "Include All Movie Categories" in the scraper settings. You have two options:

There's an old adage (that i likely just made up) that says "always scroll down as there might be options hidden at the bottom of the list that you weren't aware of" ..

I wasn't actually aware that "Include All Movie Categories" was an option until I scrolled down Smile

Enabled that and re-scraped. It did initially find the one it always has been but then i went in to "Movie Information" to manually refresh the title and found the short straight away. It still needs me to manually add the movie poster as it wasn't grabbed from iMDB but that's no great hardship i suppose.

The NFO files did work a treat as well, but using the scraper is obviously a better option as it keeps things "tidy". Would it be safe to assume that if i manually added the movie poster from a JPG file and removed that JPG to, again, "tidy" up the folder, that it would subsequently disappear if i ever updated the library ?

Thanks for the help and the tips as well.

RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - amcfarla - 2015-03-10

Is there an easy way to reinstall the 'Universal Movie scraper'? My KODI media center would no longer scan movies into the library. I noticed through the debug log I saw '21:15:38 T:139962355795712 WARNING: failed to load scraper XML from /storage/.kodi/addons/metadata.universal/universal.xml'. I went to add-ons to remove the Universal Movie scraper and there wasn't anyway to remove the add-on or reinstall it. I finally just went to addons directory that was failing and removed the 'metadata.universal' folder which after doing that allowed me to reinstall the scraper from the add-ons menu, which fixed the issue and movies started scanning in. For some reason my movie scraper had become corrupted, and I really didn't want to have to rebuild my entire Kodi media center just because of a corrupt media scanner.

RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - mtoddster - 2015-03-10

Hey.

I was hoping if there was an easy way for UMS to only add Actor Images to actors who currently don't have images. I have taken some time to make sure my current actors in my database have good quality images and each time I add a new movie it will overwrite it with current top voted on IMDB which is 50% of the time a average image at best.

Thanks for any help at all.

That's not possible to achieve from the addon. This would require Kodi core changes and that would be quite a big change.
I think it would be a better approach instead, also for the community if you would upload those good quality images to themoviedb.org and set the scraper to get images from there.
There is a voting system there as well, but usually good quality images get the votes.

I am having the same issue on all of my HTPC using OPENELEC / WINDOWS.
Can't resolve it using your method above!

RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - Zalgow - 2015-03-27

First of all, thank you for your excellent work in developing the Universal Movie Scraper.

Unfortunately, I have encountered a problem, which is there, at least, since the last update.
If I try to fetch the age rating/certification (in my case for Germany) from TMDB, the UMS is not able to parse the response from its requests and returns an empty rating.

The log shows the following:
Code:

If you open the URL, you will get a correct response from TMDB. Maybe the format/syntax has changed?

RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - Warner306 - 2015-03-30

I am no longer getting MPAA ratings for my content (TV Show or Movies). I was scraping MPAA ratings with The Movie Database and TVDb. I tried IMDb today but got the same result.

The lack of MPAA ratings is recent (within the last month or so), but I just noticed the problem today.

Is this a problem with the scraper or something related to Kodi?

RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - knives of ice - 2015-04-02

one weird thing that has started to happen recently with a few of my movies - universal scraper is pulling in TV RATINGS instead of movie ratings sometimes.

for instance, Ghostbusters has a TV-MA rating

any idea why this occurs or how i can go about fixing it?

RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - Zalgow - 2015-04-04

Just a quick follow-up regarding my issue above:

Problem seems to be solved with an update of the TMDB scraper framework, which I did yesterday.

RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - jonnypow - 2015-05-03

I understand that the RT movie ratings no longer work. Do any of options work? IMDb, metacritic? I don't know if I need a special skin. But on my screen after scraping, no critic rating ever appears for any movie regardless of which option I choose. It's not blank, is just not visible at all. All other data is there from what I can see. Sorry in advance if this is a stupid question. I use standard Confluence.

Thanks. JP

You can't change options within the add-on itself and then attempt to re-scrape, you must edit the source configuration and then you can re-scan your media, either by removing and re-adding the entire directory, or by refreshing each individual movie file. The other options such as IMDb and Metacritic should still work.

RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - the_hunter - 2015-05-06

Problem solved, unmarked IMDB and themoviedb.org enabled. Smile

The themoviedb.org search engine is disabled in my Kodi

why?

Thanks.

RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - hentai23 - 2015-05-10

so ever since the last update of universal movie scraper it started to to mess up on poster downloads , meaning if i scrape a new movie that ive added to my library i get a blank image instead of the according poster i do get the movie information thou , just no Posters or Fanart , please fix this, and unmarking imdb in settings doesnt help it
