Quote:failed to initialize audio deviceI'm trying to use my PC speakers plugged into my onboard VIA sound output jack. On the system Setting spage I get lots of options and I don't have any idea what any of it means. For example, I assume that ofr Audio output I want Analog, not HDMI or Optical/Coax. And for Audio output device I need somemething that says VIA. I got a VIA 8237 Ice958 and Default. But no matter what i select, or what combinations I select I get nothing. There has got to be a way to determine exactly what my settings should be. Code: box@xbmc:/etc$ lspci | grep Audio a chunk of my log Code: 14:43:32 T:7312432 ERROR: Control 2 in window 10122 has been asked to focus, but it can't RE: failed to initialize audio device - ant2ne - 2012-05-25 I booted from a ubuntu install disk and played an mp3 just fine uwing my on board card. I rebooted to my xbmcubuntu and attempted to play an mp3 from command line with no luck. I popped in a Dell Soundblaster PCI card and it works just fine set to ICE so I can only assume that my on board sound card has a drive issue or something. I got no othe ruse for this pci card so I'll just leave it in there and consider this issue solved. I would like the on board to work, but not enough to mess with it anymore. |
