Can XBMC be ported on the Broadcom CPU? - london - 2012-05-30 I would be grateful if anyone answered. http://www.broadcom.com/products/Satellite/Satellite-Set-Top-Box-Solutions/BCM7356 RE: Can XBMC be ported on the Broadcom CPU? - fns76 - 2012-10-13 Now its time to ask again. The first STB with this Chipset and OpenGL ES 2.0 and 1.3Ghz is availible. This have more power then raspberry pi The technical Data: Code: Hersteller GigaBlue source: AFF Hardware Table The box looks like that: RE: Can XBMC be ported on the Broadcom CPU? - Robotica - 2012-10-13 davilla worked for broadcom. Ask him.. RE: Can XBMC be ported on the Broadcom CPU? - davilla - 2012-10-13 nope, not being worked on at the moment. EDIT: and I worked with Broadcom, not for them, there is a difference RE: Can XBMC be ported on the Broadcom CPU? - fns76 - 2012-11-03 There is a secound Box with OpenGL 2.0 Support, its the ET-4000 source: AFF Hardware Table RE: Can XBMC be ported on the Broadcom CPU? - fns76 - 2013-01-05 The next Box is the VU+ Solo2 with OpenGL 2.0 Support. RE: Can XBMC be ported on the Broadcom CPU? - fns76 - 2013-04-08 Now you can find other boxes with the needed support: Xtrend/ET 4000 XPX 1000 Can XBMC be ported on the Broadcom CPU? - DrowningApe - 2013-04-08 I would make a guess that these boxes have a tightly locked down OS and hardware, and don't have the level of adoption for someone to put effort into hacking the hardware. I suspect that the next version of the Raspberry Pi, like the Roku 3, will be based on this family of SOC's, which means open hardware and drivers. If you want to start hacking this thing, please do. RE: Can XBMC be ported on the Broadcom CPU? - fns76 - 2013-04-08 The OS is Opensource, only the driver are closed source. You can find a Build enviorment for Engima2 for this kind of boxes on openaaf.com, but i'am only a java developer and i have no idea about hardware hacking and c / c++ otherwise i can do anything on this boxes. RE: Can XBMC be ported on the Broadcom CPU? - xdoktor - 2013-06-27 @ Davilla, you're a legend here so I ask... With the VU+ Duo 2 about to be released that features Open GL ES 2.0, is it even possible to port XBMC to these new type STB's & if possible, who can I 'sponsor' with a box to do it?? :-) peace Dok RE: Can XBMC be ported on the Broadcom CPU? - Ned Scott - 2013-06-27 I don't know the answer to that, but remember, there's a big difference between what is possible and what is practical ;) RE: Can XBMC be ported on the Broadcom CPU? - davilla - 2013-06-27 (2013-06-27, 02:49)xdoktor Wrote: @ Davilla, you're a legend here so I ask... While it might have all the bits xbmc needs, you also have to think if the API's are present that you can compile against. Otherwise, it just becomes too difficult to attempt and is impractical. The Duo2+ has the BCM7425 which supports OpenGL 2.0, seems a good candidate. RE: Can XBMC be ported on the Broadcom CPU? - BMCMaster - 2014-09-10 I started commpilation, as opengl driver will come soon for some of this HW. http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=204063 I stuck and I ahve no idea why it happens. |
