5.1.1 - September build - playback is not smooth - logictester - 2012-09-09
after installing the September build, 1080p MKV playback is not smooth at all, looks really bad, 720p is better , but also not smooth. Install 11.04 and everything is back to normal
Any ideas?

looking at the debug info onscreen it seems the FPS is really low - around 12-18FPS while playing the video....

Doesn't look that bad. Maybe its because you have set it up to downmix the 5.1 DTS to Stereo. Do you have these problems only on DTS movies?
After 11.04 we introduced a complete new audio engine. That might be the reason for the behaviour change.
Whats your setup? I guess HDMI straight to your TV?

yes - HDMI directly to the TV, should i disable the downmix?

You can't disable it. At least if your TV doesn't support DTS decoding. If you enable "DTS capable receiver" It would passthrough the signal to the TV. And most TVs can only downmix AC3/Dobly Digital, but not DTS. So if you do so - you will most likly get silence. But you can maybe see if the video stutter is gone then...

setting it to DTS not did fix the stutter, it's better - around 20fps, but still stuttering and only when i select both dts and ac3, when only dts or ac3 selected - same stutter around 12 fps
