Installing this skin in frodo beta1 - Scout - 2012-11-21

Hi all,

I'm sorry for the simple question - I'm fairly new to working with beta/nightly versions where things aren't available in the general repository.

I am trying to get this skin to work in the new frodo beta1.

I have downloaded the Aeon Nox master skin from github as a zip. But it won't install as a zip.

It says "Aeon Nox dependencies not met."

What do I need to do? I can't find anything in this forum for that specifically addresses this issue.

Sorry for the hastle. I would really appreciate some simple steps and links.

Please help me!

Thank you. Big Grin

Extract the skin to the userdata/addons folder. It works just fine. Just make sure you have Skin Widgets and an updated Artwork Downloader.

RE: Installing this skin in frodo beta1 - Scout - 2012-11-22

Thank you very much. I really appreciate it.

With reference to Skin Widgets and an updated Artwork Downloader.

I have found this:

https://github.com/XBMC-Addons/service.skin.widgets/downloads

which seems to match up with the Skin Widget that you mentioned, and this:

https://github.com/XBMC-Addons/script.artwork.downloader

for the Artwork Downloader.

Are these correct. If so, will I just download them as zips and place them in the same directory - userdata/addons folder?

Thank you again.

Those are the correct ones...you should be able to install them from the XBMC interface (Add-ons -> Install from zip file).

Thank you so much. I'll try them now Smile

No need because they can be found in repo and install from there

Hi Can someone be more specific as I am still struggling (im realtively new to this side of xmbc) I've downloaded all three zips, unzipped and put them in the userdata/addons folder.
I try to install from the settings/add-ons but not success. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks

First of all, there is no userdata/addons folder, if you mean userdata/addon_data, then delete the files you placed there.

- Download the zip file.
- FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT UNZIP IT!!! You might create a rift in the space-time continuum... also, unmet dependecies.
- You don't have to move it to any specific folder, just go to System -> Add-ons -> Install from zip file -> Find the zip file in the browser that comes up.
- It will take a bit, perhaps a couple of minutes, and after it is installed a message will come up asking if you want to switch to this new skin. Select yes.

You can download and install the "Artwork Downloader" and "Service Skin Widgets" from System -> Add-ons -> Search... if necessary (even though you probably won't have to, they will be installed automatically along with Aeon Nox).

There is an userdata/addons

RE: Installing this skin in frodo beta1 - Scout - 2012-11-30

Hi,

1. Download the skin as a zip from here:

https://github.com/BigNoid/Aeon-Nox/archive/master.zip (taken from: https://github.com/BigNoid/Aeon-Nox).

2. Unzip that zipped folder and paste the unzipped folder in the addons folder which will be located in your XBMC directory - XBMC/addons (you will see all of the other addons in that folder).

3. Launch XBMC and go to: Settings/Addons/Get Addons/

4. When you're in addons, locate the two required addons for this skin as mentioned above - Skin Widgets (found in "Services") and Artwork Downloader (found in programs).

5. Download them (the will enable themselves automatically).

6. When they have finished downloading and are enabled, go back to Settings/Appearences/Skin and you should see the Aeon Nox skin listed. Select that skin and away you go.

Note: When I did this, I didn't need to download the two required addons mentioned above for the skin to work. I downloaded them after applying the Aeon Nox skin which became available after completing steps 1 and 2.

I hope this helps.

Let me know how you go.

RE: Installing this skin in frodo beta1 - Davidja - 2012-11-30

Hi Scout,
Thanks for your help but no success unfortunately.
I had unzipped all three items (Skin Widgets, Art Downloader & Aeon Nox) to the addons folder which does exist.
I was able to install the art downloader but it would not find either of the other two. I did finf the 3.6 version of Nox in the skins addons.
Not sure where I can go from here....
I do have a renamed version of Eden (to not confuse the install) on the machine (in case I wanted to roll back due to Frodo failing), not sure if thats the problem.
Appreciate any help

You don't need to install them, now that you have put them in the addons folder you have in effect installed them.

Go to (from memory) Settings > Appearance > Skin and choose aeon nox.
