Intel NUC - To what era can it emulate well? - Pasoa2021 - 2013-03-28

So I'm looking to get some emulators setup on my NUC.

Based on the hardware (I bought the i3) - What can this system handle?

I'm presuming SNES/Genesis etc. fine. N64? PSX? Dolphin?

N64 and PSX should work fine. Dolphin needs at least a 3+ gigabits processor. So no for dolphin.

Does Dolphin rely more on the processor, or the GPU? Might some games work OK? I guess I can always try Smile

It uses both, the processor is your big limiting factor here though. 1.8 GIghurtz probably wont get you passed a start screen for a gamecube game at 480 resolution.

GHz means nothing when comparing different processor families...

Ned Scott, so would this core i3 be able to handle it? No big deal if not.

No idea, but 1.8 GHz for one processor can be a major difference with 1.8 GHz for another.

an i7 2.2 GHz can not handle dolphin smoothly. Its safe to say that a 1.8 GHz i3 would be worse.
