That's the thing with those sort of boxes. They're not bad and reasonably priced but if the softwares not upgradeable or limited then you'll end up spending HTPC prices to get another one!

Very true. I'm keeping an eye on a few different boxes to see how they perform and if any live up to expectations then I'll get one. If they don't then probably a celeron nuc with openelec on unless the gigabyte brix is much cheaper

I got a Celeron NUC and simerec coming this week!

Just looking at other boxes for potential streamers for parents.

The cyclone X2 if cheap enough might do for the in laws. Just need a NAS for it.

Tbh I think the nuc is ticking all boxes for me at the moment. I'll keep a keen eye out for your review in the nuc thread especially on 1:1 blu ray rips as the lenovo I tried really struggled for some reason.

Back OT, though the spec of this looks ok it will only be any good if the support is there on the software side. With all these boxes sprouting up with variations on a theme how good that support is I'll wait to see.
