I'll take that one step further and suggest true background updating (when ptvl is not running in the foreground). When I asked about it before, Luna had said that he intended ptvl to be run in set top mode for automatic updates.

But with the new headless Kodi branch, many people are setting up headless vms on their Nas with headless Kodi running and updating the library and such (no playback capability). It would be nice to be able to utilize those to also update the ptvl channels.

Thanks

I like the new updates and thank you for bringing back Concast skin but the yellow makes it hard to read. The problem i have ran into is now my bumpers dont work anymore. They worked before the update and now nothing i have also reset everything to default and still nothing. is anyone else having this problem?

Having some problem with NextPVR-addon when doing AutoTune.
Can't read the text, since the progress bar is on top of it.

EDIT: FTV favourites don't seem to work either.

Should I be using PVR-backend for my HDHomerun? Does that make it run smoother?

Was going to goof around with Next-PVR.

Well, a few months ago my pc's MOBO crapped out, so I've been using Kodi through my laptop, and thought I'd leave Pseudotv alone till I got a new pc. Turns out I couldn't stay away, haha, awesome add-on, still my absolute fave. I set things up a day or two ago, and was surprised how much I missed it. Great work!

When I hit the select button on my remote, PTVL brings up the blank EPG background and it takes 10-15 seconds to populate the programs and logos. Navigating through the channels is slow. Moving between the 6 channels showing on the guide aren't too bad but there is about .5 second lag. Trying to navigate to a channel off screen is worse and the lag can vary between 2-5 seconds usually. If I make the mistake of trying to navigate to my music videos channel (folder based), forget it. We're talking minutes. Sometimes up to 10 or so. Even exiting is problematic as it sits on removing file locks for at least 30 seconds or more. All my channels are based on local network content. No internet streaming.

Here is my log: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=65952B21EB866735!3378&authkey=!AK6Ja-zwDkDVkIk&ithint=file%2clog

I do see a bunch of "ERROR: XFILE::CFile::Rename - Error renaming file smb://WOPR/xbmc_stuff/PTV Live Shared Channels/cache/FileLock.dat" messages. Are they my problem? Would really love to get this sorted out and get back my reliable PTVL.

Send me your settings2.xml

@Lunatixz,

Found a bug, not sure if this has been mentioned yet.

Basically the EPG artwork seems to get erased everytime I exit PTVL.

Which then means that everytime I launch PTVL the artwork spooler has to finish running before the artwork is displayed. The average spooling time for my 40 channels (set to a max of 50 vids a piece) is around 1200 seconds. All of this means everytime I launch PTVL it takes about 20 minutes for any artwork to display. The other problem that goes along with this is that, if I try to exit before the spooling completes PTVL usually hangs and the machine needs to be rebooted OR it will actually continue to spool artwork even once PTVL is exited and then when I attempt to launch PTVL again, it will give me the warning that PTVL is already running and Ill have to reboot the machine.

This is defintiely a new problem that has only popped up in the last two updates.

As a test, I downloaded 5.7F from Github and on that version the artwork loads instantly upon launch. Like I said in the beginning I cant be the only one experiencing this and I have to believe this is a bug, so I figured I'd bring it to your attention.

I can confirm the same problem as ARYEZ. Artwork has to be recached every start up.

Hey Luna

Was testing this plugin adding thingy you got there and OH MAN LOVE IT!!! I have a question for you. I use this plugin called Ballstreams. Pay service to watch NBA games. I just added a test stream now and it works great.

But these all start at a specific time, when the game starts. I dont care about the on demand. How would i get this to be only on at the time the game/stream is?

Here is the plugin: http://www4.ballstreams.com/assist/categories/9/general+homebrew/4056/XBMC+Plugin

I hope its just some option i need to set Smile just happy that it works on my quick tests. just that the feed dirctories change every day. Dont know how to set it up for long term use Sad

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for your latest update! Appreciate the work you do! The issue that I mentioned earlier is still present in 0.5.9. I did my latest test on an USB stick running KODIubuntu, so nothing would be installed by myself to cause conflicts. Here is my steps in this test:

1: Turned on debug and rebooted the machine
2: Changed screensaver from dim to euphoria ( i can test other screensavers but it was observed with dim and euphoria)
3: Waited and watched the screensaver start
4: Installed your repo and PTVL
5: waited and watched the screensaver start
6: Because i always have to reboot after an upgrade/install of PTVL so i rebooted here
7: Waited and the screensaver didnt start....had a shower and came back and it still hadnt started

At this point I havent even ran PTVL nor configured anything else in Kodi or PTVL.

Steps 2-5: http://xbmclogs.com/paa5gzozc
Step 7: http://xbmclogs.com/ppk4mbr4f

Please let me know if there is anything else you need from me. From this test, i cant see it being any other addon that I would have installed that is causing this issue.

Cheers!

I've exhausted possibilities, the code as written should not keep your system from idling. On every Kodi and PTVL instance I run... No idling problems...
The entry in your log that concerns me is the line below. It is not generated by PTVL, but Kodi. Do you have any wake-lan settings enabled in Kodi? Perhaps this is a power system bug between kodi and your hardware?

Code:
17:48:53 T:140011287377856   DEBUG: UPower: Received an unknown signal DeviceChanged

Thank you for taking the time to look into this. I have this issue on 3 machines. 2 are identical hardware (the logs is from one of these) and 1 is my server running Mythbuntu. I can duplicate the issue on all three machines.

I will try to do more digging to see if its something in my environment doing this, but i cannot think what at the moment. Its very strange that others aren't having this issue and I have it happening on all my devices.

Those errors look like the happen in the first log too, when the system idled properly before PTVL install....so i dont know for sure if they are the cause.

Cheers!

@wyild1 Don't feel alone as I am having the same problem. Kodi will not start screensaver or suspend when PTVL is installed. I am running on OPenElec 5.5 using Aeon MQ 5 Helix mod. What skin are you testing with? If I remove PTVL screensaver and suspend work as expected.

PTVL hangs, because the artwork spooler is still running in the background.

You can change it so that PTVL only makes the images when it needs it by turning off the system caching. Go to settings -> Misc tab and untick "Enable System Caching". It used to take me 3 or 4 minutes for the artwork spooler, but it now only takes 5 seconds.

You guys need to read my changelogs...

From the changelog:
"EPG Artwork disabled until Art Spooler is finished."

Cmon man of course I read your changelog...it's not like I just started using PTVL.

I am just trying to bring to your attention that perhaps the artwork spooling system isnt working exactly as intended. Personally I've had it take nearly 15 minutes to even begin spooling and then another 20-30 minutes to complete the process. If this is working as intended that is one thing, but I believe this must be a bug and was just trying to make you aware of it since I know you are always trying to fix bugs when reported.

Again, I'm not hating or complaining, but when the latest update came out and this issue persisted, I thought it was worth mentioning incase it had been an oversight.
