XBMC needs hard accel OpenGL rendering - Intel 845g - ncube2 - 2013-07-27 Pardon my ignorance i get this XBMC needs hardware accel OpenGL rendering, install an appropriate graphics driver. I am not well versed with Linux just giving it a try, just installed xbmcubunto onto an old desktop that i had lying.. Install went fine and i get this after the reboot. I have an Intel Pentium 4 CPU with Mesa DRI Intel 845g video driver(ya i know it's an ancient piece).. So does the above error mean my system is incapable of running xbmc or is there a way to fix this. Any help is appreciated. Would going to a lower leve like xbmc11 make a difference. I can't seem to find the xbmc log under $HOME/.xbmc/temp/xbmc.log, all i have under .xbmc are addons/userdata glxinfo Error: unable to open display Thanks RE: XBMC needs hard accel OpenGL rendering - Intel 845g - Kib - 2013-07-27 As far as I can tell that device has no hardware accelerated OpenGL. RE: XBMC needs hard accel OpenGL rendering - Intel 845g - ncube2 - 2013-07-27 The same system runs xbmc 11 fine via OpenElec.. doesn't that version of xbmc need hardware accel OpenGL ? RE: XBMC needs hard accel OpenGL rendering - Intel 845g - wsnipex - 2013-07-27 http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=150605&pid=1459906#pid1459906 RE: XBMC needs hard accel OpenGL rendering - Intel 845g - ncube2 - 2013-07-27 Can someone clarify this.. after the above issue i went ahead and installed xbmc11ubunto version on the same system and it boots fine into xbmc.. This is the Xorg log file after i start xbmc11 http://pastebin.com/C8J4RyRi - So i would like to know if i can run xbmc12 or later versions on the same machine if so what updates are needed after i install to get it working. And why was i getting the OpenGL hardware accel error ? I don't see anything under the xorg.conf ( Is this something that's not req'd for XBMC to work ) cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf cat: /etc/X11/xorg.conf: No such file or directory Thanks. RE: XBMC needs hard accel OpenGL rendering - Intel 845g - wsnipex - 2013-07-27 did you read the link I posted above? RE: XBMC needs hard accel OpenGL rendering - Intel 845g - ncube2 - 2013-07-28 After the 12.2 ubunto install i ve edited Exec under /usr/share/applications/xbmc.desktop as per the thread mentioned, rebooted and started xbmc and still get the dreaded h/w accel failure popup. What else can i check.. pls help. this is driving me nuts.. or else will have to to revert back to Eden. xbmc@xbmc-ubuntu:~$ cat /usr/share/applications/xbmc.desktop [Desktop Entry] Version=1.0 Name=XBMC Media Center GenericName=Media Center Comment=Manage and view your media Exec=sh -c "MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=3.0 xbmc" Icon=xbmc Terminal=false Type=Application Categories=AudioVideo;Video;Player;TV; Actions=Fullscreen;Standalone; [Desktop Action Fullscreen] Name=Open in fullscreen Exec=xbmc -fs OnlyShowIn=Unity; [Desktop Action Standalone] Name=Open in standalone mode Exec=xbmc --standalone OnlyShowIn=Unity; Xorg log file - http://pastebin.com/cD1AtcHG See this in dmesg.. not sure what it means [ 30.495081] i915 0000:00:02.0: VGA-1: EDID block 0 invalid. RE: XBMC needs hard accel OpenGL rendering - Intel 845g - ncube2 - 2013-07-29 not sure what u mean by that.. could u explain RE: XBMC needs hard accel OpenGL rendering - Intel 845g - Norre - 2013-09-06 nickr I hope it is OK to use this thread as I have the same problem. I have tried to start xbmc in a terminal. It will not start and it looks like so: ym@linux-5mbr:~> xbmc Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/56-user.conf", line 9: reading configurations from ~/.fonts.conf is deprecatehttp://forum.xbmc.org/newreply.php?tid=169901d. gym@linux-5mbr:~> RE: XBMC needs hard accel OpenGL rendering - Intel 845g - Norre - 2013-09-06 My problem is solved! The last post in this thread gave result: http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/multimedia/484598-xbmc-12-3-a.html The problem was not a lack of 3D accelerator but to let xbmc to find it!? |
