RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2014-03-31

No. That I did not say. We provide what the hw drivers / api provides. But yeah mpeg-4 / xvid was a time when a whole lot of different files / codecs / encodings / shitty encoders were around - so don't hold your breath too long. Xbmc does not do the decoding, it only uses well established interfaces (vdpau, vaapi, vda, dxva, etc.) most via ffmpeg hw context.

@fritsch thx, I cannot find syslinux grub equivalent to add that parameter to report it. What file do i edit. Also what do you think I should attach. Dmesg output? I want to help. Smile

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2014-03-31

Look harder :-) there is only exactly one .cfg file in /flash.

Nothing for now, they are still discussing changes to the code.

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - gfisher - 2014-03-31

Thx. Sadly I have googled til my eyes bled before asking.... I will test it out. I am quite happy with all of the activity on that br.

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2014-03-31

Code:
mount -o remount,rw /flash

Then edit syslinux.cfg and append that boot option - was not hard was it?

On the other side, we still hope that the start / stop fix gets included into 14.04 - sadly the kernel goodies from 3.14 won't make it.
Thanks a lot, my AMD fusion e-350 get 23,98 FPS now with Gotham, it's good Big Grin

is there a place to report bugs to ALSAHuh
this is the only link i've found, and it's dead -- https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - gfisher - 2014-04-02

@fritsch. Thx. Also.. I just tried OE nightly.

I think something else broke 23.976 unless they committed your patch. Also kernel went from 3.13.7 to 3.14. And to Gotham beta 4 from 3. So your DRM patch might be fine. 3.14 or beta4 might be at fault.

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2014-04-02

That patch was commited and 3.14 is used this could very well be the issue. Sadly your TV / computer combination is for now the only bad report. All others are now happy with working 24p :-) -> Head over to the bugreport and post your findings.

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - arkim - 2014-04-02

So Fritsch do you think that thé problem is solved with xbmcbuntu 13 ?

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - fritsch - 2014-04-02

I don't need to think anything, if you can just go out and try it. "The Problem" - if you are refering to the stop bug is not yet solved as the Ubuntu guys will first pick it, when it's landed in a stable mesa series - use the OpenELEC image, that has everything that is possible today (without hevc).

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - arkim - 2014-04-02

OK thanks i thought that trusty have 3.14 kernel too but it's 3.13. But the kernel freeze is for avril and 3.14 is stable now so Ubuntu dev could have time to integrate it.... I hope Wink i dont want to change my zotac ad10

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - wsnipex - 2014-04-02

its trivial to install kernel 3.14 in ubuntu. Just get it from the ubuntu kernel ppa.

RE: Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto) - tomtomme - 2014-04-02

stil these xbmc crashes at the end of an rtmp stream
