XMBC Stick for Synology DS112j NAS - Or something else - mark78 - 2014-01-03 Hi There can someone help me select some hardware please? I have tried looking through the forums but am getting more and more confused. I currently have a Synology DS112j NAS connected to my TV via Network cable - DLNA. Im really only interested in viewing the films I have stored on my box, many of which are blu-rays i have transferred from disc in various formats. Currently via the Tv interface, which is akin to looking at a spreadsheet, all the films playback fine. What I would like is a snazzy looking interface such as XMBC to select the films from. I see its possible to get XMBC running on a stick, streaming the NAS content via wi-fi? such as: http://www.cloudsto.com/android-mini-pc-s/rikomagic-quad-core-mk802iv-8gb-flash-bluetooth-dhl-express-shipping-detail.html is this the right kind of device for the job or am i going down the wrong path here? Can anyone help me? RE: XMBC Stick for Synology DS112j NAS - Or something else - loki504 - 2014-01-03 i never heard good thigs about android xbmc beside the ouya. if you got the money buy a intel nuc with 2 gig ram and a 32gb msata drive. the cheap 150 euro celleron works great for non full 3d content. RE: XMBC Stick for Synology DS112j NAS - Or something else - mark78 - 2014-01-04 thanks loki. seems expensive to go down the NUC route. shame they dont make a fast android 8 core cpu with a network connection one end and hdmi out the other. |
