Overclocking Pi 2 - Chrisiooo - 2015-02-03

What config file settings should be possible?

Are we going pretty much the same, except "arm_freq" and "gpu_mem"?

RE: Overclocking Pi 2 - wrxtasy - 2015-02-03

Gazes into Raspberry shaped crystal ball and mutters incantations to try and summon that bloke who likes mixed Popcorn...... Oo

Raspberry coloured smoke appears, and out of it steps....

RE: Overclocking Pi 2 - Chrisiooo - 2015-02-03

Got my Pi2 this morning, works quite well with these settings.
Will see how far I can go up with the arm_freq Huh

arm_freq=1100
core_freq=520
sdram_freq=520
gpu_freq=510
isp_freq=510
gpu_mem_1024=256
over_voltage_sdram=6
over_voltage=8
current_limit_override=1
force_turbo=1
hdmi_force_hotplug=1
hdmi_drive=2

RE: Overclocking Pi 2 - kl1k - 2015-02-03

Don't make it smoke! Smile

I'm giving her all she's got, Captain!

RE: Overclocking Pi 2 - Warez - 2015-02-03

gpu_freq=510?

And what's your experience in general with the new Pi2? Snappier? Much faster? etc? I have the original Pi and am very interested in this and if things navigate much quicker, etc!

RE: Overclocking Pi 2 - Milhouse - 2015-02-03

My Pi monitoring tool, bcmstat, has been updated with multi-core support. Can be useful to monitor your clock speeds, network throughput, CPU and memory performance.

RE: Overclocking Pi 2 - oWarchild - 2015-02-03

Oh, didn't know bcmstat, just tried it on my Pi 1 B and it's really useful. Thanks @Milhouse!

RE: Overclocking Pi 2 - invisable - 2015-02-03

I've gone for a lower overclock then Chrisiooo
I'm running at:
arm_freq=950
force_turbo=1
gpu_mem=256

Be nice to see if I can get up to 1000MHz with no overvoltage, to be honest I'm quite happy with the default settings. I prefer this to my hummingboard i2ex which I paid double the price Smile

RE: Overclocking Pi 2 - Warez - 2015-02-04

Is the Leopold .Unofficial Raspberry Pi configuration addon working on the Pi2?

Yes. Used it to update to Milhouse's latest Pi2 build last night.

RE: Overclocking Pi 2 - Warez - 2015-02-04

Cool so the overclock option is working?! Smile

Ah sorry - I tested his OE updater addon. Not tested the config editor.

I would guess it will work, but doesn't include a Pi2 specific overclock setting.

Just set it to arm_freq=1000, core_freq=500, sdram_freq=500, over_voltage=2 manually for now.

RE: Overclocking Pi 2 - Warez - 2015-02-04

Oke no Problem Smile

RE: Overclocking Pi 2 - Chrisiooo - 2015-02-04

Tested different config file setup´s and ended up with this:

OS is the latest Openelec build #0203 from Milhouse
arm_freq=1100
core_freq=520
sdram_freq=520
over_voltage=8
over_voltage_sdram=6
gpu_mem=256
force_turbo=1
disable_overscan=1
avoid_pwm_pll=1
current_limit_override=1
hdmi_force_hotplug=1
hdmi_drive=2

arm_freq=1100 was the highest value I can get without freezing the Pi during Usage.

But the backpower method with a USB Y-Cable isn´t working, like I did with my old Pi B. I think the reason why I can´t go over 1100freq is the less power provide through the micro usb port. Any Idea how I can get this working again?

With this setting everything runs really smooth, from my feeling much smoother than with standard settings.
I use the skin 1080XF with many Addons and boblightd active, also playing 1080p movies in the background while scrolling through my movie list ist possible without any lack of speed.
